Sony Cybershot camera questions - anyone have one?

moped wrote: I am having a hard time getting a decent quality pic with this thing - I take 20 pics and only one is decent. Some seem to have a showdow or look like the subject is moving - just not good pics.....I am a moron with stuff like this but cannot figure out why they aren't nice crisp pics......

mckayleesmom replied: I have one and love it....Its not the best quality, but not the worst either....I know I get glairs and stuff if its pointed towards the sun or a light in the room

moped replied:
So do you get lots of pics that you have to delete?

moped replied: Then sometimes it is telling me that I am shaking and I am NOT.....so the pic is crap then too

mckayleesmom replied:
Mine doesn't do that....maybe you should take it back. I haven't had a problem with mine at all.

MommyToAshley replied: Which version of the Sony Cybershot do you have? I get awesome pictures that are very crisp and clear... and I don't have a very steady hand. They are known for their ease and being able to take crisp pictures. How old is your model? The reason I ask is they had a recall on several Cybershots and will fix it for free including shipping if yours is on the list. I'd check their website.

mckayleesmom replied: I have the Cyber shot 7.2 and have only had to erase a couple pictures and that is because my kid moved or ran out of the screen...so of course it was blury then. But I haven't had any major problems....All the pictures in my siggy are taken with it.

MommyToAshley replied:
That's one of the things that the recall was for... I'd check to see if you camera is on the list.

mckayleesmom replied: I just bought mine about 2 weeks ago....So Im sure its good

Here is the article I found.....maybe yours was recalled Jen..When did you buy it?

Sony Cybershot Digital Camera Recall

Sony is recalling eight models of its Cyber-shot digital cameras after finding a defect in the liquid crystal display screen. A problem with the image sensor may cause the screen to not display images correctly, Sony said.

The recall applies to models sold worldwide between September 2003 and January 2005. Sony will repair for free only cameras that show signs of the problems.

This is the second time in just over a year that Tokyo-based Sony has announced defects in its digital cameras. It cited similar problems with 20 other models last October and offered free repairs.

The recall applies to models DSC-F88, DSC-M1, DSC-T1, DSC-T11, DSC-T3, DSC-T33, DSC-U40 and DSC-U50.

MommyToAshley replied:
There were a lot more models than that recalled. I'd just go to the website and put in your model #... it will tell you if there is a recall.

It wasn't just Sony that was recalled, it was actually several manufacturers. It had something to do with a part that was used in point & shoot digital cameras. Sony is the only one that paid for the shipping as well though. SO, thumb.gif to Sony for at least fixing the problem.

mckayleesmom replied:
I will look again....hmmm

mckayleesmom replied: Dee Dee....do you have the website to look at?....Im only finding recalls for 2003-2005 cybershots.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we had problems with all of our point and shoot cameras (sony cybershot, nykon coolpix etc.). They all started out taking fine pictures then started doing exactly what you are describing. For me the best move was getting a dslr. THe quality on teh shots is som much better and just getting rid of shutter lag made such a big difference when taking pictures of teh kids....especially trying to get all 3 in one biggrin.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Same camera Jen, and I get the same problem. dry.gif I am always deleting.

moped replied:
Just got it about 2 months ago - brand new...

moped replied: I will check the recall list tonight but I don't think so because I JUST bought it

CantWait replied:
I have the DSC H3.....anyway I find you do have to have a steady hand with it, either that or make sure you're gently pressing on the button until the box appears (helps it steady) and then click all the way down on it.

moped replied: Dee I am having a problem finding the whole recall list - do you know where I can find it?
