Sooo...I started a new job last week... - I didn't want to jynx it...
Hillbilly Housewife wrote: But I am the Executive Assistant to one of the two VPs for one of the museums here in my city. I'm so psyched... This week is my second week. The people here are fantastic, and I'm really liking what I'm doing so far.
So, that's why I haven't really been around this past week during the day... this week it slowed down a little because what they needed to show me to begin with is done and over with, and now I'm more left to my own devices to work... so I'll be off and on throughout the days.
I miss dressing professionally... I didn't realize it until this weekend. I blew about 1600$ on clothing. Ah...dress shirts, lace skirts..high heels.. how I have missed you. NOT! I actually got some decent stuff. I'm not a frilly girl and so most of what I bought is pant suits.. but I did pick up a few softer feminine things too. I bought 5 different pant suits, a few pairs of dress pants that I can mix and match with a few jackets I bought, some long skirts, about 5 pairs of shoes, a new jacket, a few short skirts, and some dress shirts. UGH. Jeans and a t-shirt. Jeans and a tshirt.
A&A'smommy replied: Thats aweseome Rocky!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!
coasterqueen replied: I take it you'd rather be wearing jeans and a t-shirt? Honestly I LOVE dressing up for work when my clothes ACTUALLY fit. Last year when I lost all that weight my clothes felt great and I felt great about how I looked and wasn't as uncomfortable about wearing them. Now that I've gained all that weight back my clothes are VERY tight and so I hate dressing up right now.
Congrats on the new job

Crystalina replied: I'm glad your doing something you like! Congrats!!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds like such a great place to work! What exactally will you be doing? Any hands on with exhibits or all administrative? Inquiring minds want to live vicariously through you!
mommy~to~a~bunch replied: Awesome!! Sorry you have to wear dressy clothes; I hate them too!
My2Beauties replied: Awesome good for you. I have to dress up for work too and I absolutely loathe it! It stinks! I am so happy for you!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Actually, yes.
I'm at the museum of civilization. I do mostly administrative work, but part of my functions are to oversee a part of the costume balls they have twice a year. Doesn't seem like much...but it's a lot of work, it seems. Dealing with the sponsors, other clients, donations.. purchases of exhibits, touring exhibits..
I get to work with the graphic designers that do the handouts and the teasers for the events..
and most fabulously of all - I get free unlimited entry to any all all functions and exhibits for my family and I!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yes, without a doubt.
But, I'm told I clean up nice.
sparkys2boys replied: That's great Rocky! Hope you continue to love it!
moped replied: I must have missed something - didn't you run a dayhome????
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Honey I haven't been doing daycare since october!!!!!
moped replied: Sorry, I guess I am out of touch - anyways, congrats!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Congrats, sounds like an awesome job!! I've done marketing and events and they are a TON of work. No doubt!! Everything you described is exactly what I used to do...and boy oh boy will you be busy. But it's fun!! I hate business attire too, but luckily most places you can get away without wearing hose these days...as long as the skirt isn't too short of course. Congrats!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so happy for you!
