Speaking of dieting and swimsuits

coasterqueen wrote: Did anyone see a special on in the last week or so like on Dateline or 60 minutes or some news program like that regarding motivating people to diet w/swimsuits? They took pictures of everyone in these really small bikini swimsuits (not skimpy bikini ones, more like the brief cut bikini swimsuits). They basically challenged everyone to lose 15 pounds in so much time (can't remember the length of time - 3 months maybe?) and if they didn't then those pictures would be televised on national tv. If they did lose the weight then they could have their pictures. Everyone but one woman lost the weight. I think she was like 2 or 3 pounds from losing. They ended up giving her the pictures, though. But they say something like that - public humiliation is a real motivator to get people to lose weight whereas health issues isn't a motivator. It was a really interesting show.

Kaitlin'smom replied: so do you want a goal and deadline or you have to post that pic? laugh.gif no I would never really ask you to post it unless you wanted to.

However what an interesting idea.

5littleladies replied: I was just going to post about this Karen. It was really interesting to watch. I was particularly interested in the man whose wife's photos would be televised if he didn't lose the weight. He had extra incentive-or maybe I should say encouragement. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif No, but I honestly wouldn't have a problem posting my pics. If I was asked I'd like others to join me but I would do it alone.

I just thought it was interesting how national public humilation would get someone but not health issues.

Kaitlin'smom replied: would have liked to seen that, does sound interesting.

coasterqueen replied:
OMG yeah, could you have imagined! I would have beat my husband (not really) if he didn't lose the weight. laugh.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'll post mine if you'll post yours. biggrin.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh wait...I may want to upload them first and look at them on the big screen before committing. laugh.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Ok you are on. Course mine are really bad. But I'll do it. I have no shame. But I must warn you that I hadn't done my hair this morning or my make up when DH took the pics AND I wasn't smiling because who smiles when you know you aren't gonna look good in a pic? laugh.gif

You wanna post them here or in another thread?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: puke.gif They are SO BAD!!! I also didn't do hair or makeup and I don't have a tan, either blush.gif

Give me a minute and I'll finish uploading them. I'm in a bikini, btw. Do you think this is okay? I won't show the backside b/c my butt is hanging out. unsure.gif puke.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I'm in a tankini. So yeah, it's ok. I'll start a new thread and we can be humiliated together. cool.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I don't think I can do this. blush.gif I lied...I'd never be seen in public with this thing on.

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif Oh well. I already posted mine.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I would never leave you hanging. wink.gif hug.gif

luvmykids replied: I saw that show too, I think that would've motivated me way more than anything else. I think you guys are too hard on yourselves, anyone who's had kids and still wears a swim suit is a warrior in my book! thumb.gif
