Speaking of hotel stays - germs

coasterqueen wrote: What do you do when you go to hotels to stay -- as far as the germ issue? I ask this because of not only the bathroom post but a few of our lobbyists and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago because they spend roughly 4 out of 7 nights a week during session in hotel rooms. I, myself, stay in hotel rooms quite a bit during the year.

Just curious as to what "precautions" you take regarding germs in hotel rooms?

lisar replied: I always take bleach spray with me and spray down the toilet and the bathtub before they are used. I know they clean but its just me. I wanna KNOW they are clean KWIM?

Danalana replied: But did you know that a study was done, and found that the comforter on the bed contains the most germs and bacteria? Also, the remote control....germ city.

kit_kats_mom replied: I take off the comforters immediately and throw them in the closets. They are NASTY!!

PrairieMom replied:
yessmiley.gif me too.

coasterqueen replied:
I do too. We actually bring our own blankets and pillows. We were flip flops/thongs in the hotel room because the floors probably never get cleaned. I wipe the toilet and sink down before we use them and yes, I wear flip flops in the shower. tongue.gif

But my two biggest things staying in a hotel room is my own blankets/pillows and wearing shoes at all time when in them.

gr33n3y3z replied:
I use to clean those rooms and this is a 4 star place I will tell you this the floors do not get cleaned everyday unless it is directed to us or check out time blink.gif including a shampoo thats only once a year unless an up chuck happends.
and the bedspread stays unless it gets soiled and the blankets also sorry ppl. those dont get washed either everytime

Why do you ask its all about time and money

So where would I sleep in the tub with my own bedding LOL

kit_kats_mom replied: yeah, I always wear shoes. I will not let my feet touch the floors.

Mommy2BAK replied: EEWWW is all I can say about hotels!!! puke.gif

holley79 replied: Hotels are ick but I use to have to practically live in one because of my job. I would take my own bedding, wear flip flops and whatever. I use to stay in 4 or 5 stars hotels. I would leave $3.00 each morning on the dresser for housekeeping and my room would get fairly clean.

Danalana replied: laugh.gif I never take my own bedding...of course, I rearely stay in hotels. But I did know about the bedding and stuff. And for goodness sakes, sanitize the remote! Haha, I never really think about it, but I know some of you do.

tammyhopkins replied: I avoid stayin in hotels where i can. But if i have to i do not sit on the toilet and where my shoes the whole time and for blankets i alwasy thought about taking my own never have but after this post i will LOL

lovemy2 replied: We camp in our pop up on vacation - RARELY and I mean RARELY stay in hotels - the camper I know is clean and as for the dirt - well god made dirt and dirt don't hurt tongue.gif

Calimama replied: I seriously thought they were clean! I'm dumb. blink.gif

Brias3 replied: I NEVER EVER use the bedspread or middle blanket at a hotel- they get thrown in the corner immediately. I use just the sheet and usually have an extra blanket along. I also like to bring my own pillowcases.

I'm not a fan of walking around barefoot on the carpet either. We usually always have a pair of sandals or slippers along to wear around the room.

redchief replied: I'm feeling like I need a hotel stay. Let me see what I can find in the book. emlaugh.gif

Cece00 replied: I know they are germy. We dont stay in hotels too often, a few times a year. Its hard to do much about the germs when you are there for more than a day or so. But I know when I get home I wash EVERYTHING we brought, even shoes. And I take a good shower rolling_smile.gif
