Special blanket for how long??
blue72 wrote: Luke is 4 1/2 and has had a special blanket since birth. He doesn't take it out of the house. It is in rough shape but he absolutely loves it. How long did you kids keep their blankets. I have no intention of taking it away. I'm just curious how old your kids where when they parted with their precious blankey.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke is 2 and she still has her blankie. She takes it to grandma's house and in the car every time we go, but she does not take it into restaurants and etc.
I remember my sister had one until she was 6 or so - it was just a little rag by then.
Nina J replied: Emily still has hers, she is 2 and a half. It's always on her bed or with her when she takes a nap. I guess she'll have it until it wears out to nothing, or she gets sick of it and doesn't want it anymore.
mummy2girls replied: well jenna is 3 and has had her blanket since she was 2 months old. She used to have to bring it everywhere but now she just needs it at bedtime or when she is sick...
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I had a blankie until I was at least 7. And after that I still slept with my favorite bear. He even came to college with me.
luvmykids replied: For some weird reason none of mine got attached to anything, I kind of wished they would, I just thought it would be neat for them, I guess. But I had (and still have!) a stuffed lion, I called him Lelo (Leo) and slept with him until about third grade when I started going to slumber parties.
holley79 replied: Well my little tough cop sister STILL has her blankie. If she knew I posted this I was get oh so tased.
Brias3 replied: Neither I nor any of my kids have really gotten attached to anything special either. However, this does remind me of one of my good girlfriends. Her special blanket was from her grandmother and I kid you not, she still brought it to college with her! It's not as though she had a maturity problem or anything, I guess it was mainly just a keepsake of her grandma but it just striked me as funny that in her 20's, she still had her "blanky"! For all I know, the thing is still on her pillow! I'll have to ask her!
MM'sMama replied: I had mine till I was about 6 it was a quilt my mom made me. Then many years later I think I was around 13 or so my niece found it and love it just as much so I passed it on to her. I thought it was sweet.
ediep replied: Jason has a special blanket that he must have to sleep, he calls it his fefe (fef for short). I have no idea where that name came from.....my neice is in first grade, she'll be 7 next week and she still has her special blanket.
EvesMom replied: My 18 year old step son still has his blanky! It looks like swiss cheese, but it is still on his bed.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I am 22 and STILL have my blankey!! Alex is almost 2 and loooves his blankey! He drags it around the house with him all the time, doesn't bring it out often though.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: Sabrina has one its called Ellybear She loves it! She is only 18m and I just recently went out and bought a few more like it just in CASE! I figure when she is ready she will get rid of it. She only uses it at nap and bed (sometimes in the car) I would think if he isn't taking it to school he'll part with it in his own time
BAC'sMom replied: At our house it is not so my a specific blanket it’s the texture of a blanket. So yes my younger two have a favorite blanket. Ansley has since she was about 4 months old,(She’s now 6) she can just see her blanket and her thumb goes in her mouth. Callum is the same way minus the thumb. They both have to have the blankets when they sleep at night, otherwise really don’t have an interest during the day. I figure it’s not hurting anyone and they both will grow out of it eventually.
MamaJAM replied: My youngest DD - who will be 7 tomorrow -- still LOVES her blankie. She sleeps with it and brings it downstairs when she needs to cuddle or feels the need for it's comfort. DS#1 also has a special blankie that he loves - he's 3.5.
None of my other kids have ever had blankets that were special to them -- it's always been stuffed animals. DD#1 still has her special animal....she doesn't _need_ it...but it still has a special spot on her bed. (ftr - she's 13)
