Spencer has RSV

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: I just found out a few minutes ago that Spencer has RSV. They have put him on Respiratory Isolation. I'm in shock. The doctor is supposed to come and talk to me more about this and they are going to try to an inhalation medication. But with the way his mouth and throat are, I don't think he will cooperate. Right now he is on oxygen when he sleeps. If they cannot continue to support his oxygen levels than he will be moved to the ICU. I'm in shock, complete and udder shock. When the Infectious Diseases doctor came to speak to me I had no questions, I didn't know what to ask. They gave me a pamphlet of information, but have encouraged me to surf the net for more information.

It is so dangerous to be hospitalized at this time of year.
Let him know that the nebulizers WILL NOT hurt his mouth and throat. you can also ask your RT or DR about nebulizing lidocain if his mouth and throat hurt that bad. It can numb it.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! He is scheduled for a CT scan later today to determine if he has a fungal infection. They have already started him on an anti-fungal medication ontop of the antibiotics he is on. I'll keep you all post and let you know how things go.
