Spencer is Having a Rough Day

So I let his nurse know that he was a little upset and she said she would go in and talk to him. When I got back to Ronald McDonald House, I called my friend and then when I got off of the phone there was a message. It was Spencer, he didn't say anything, but I could hear his nurse in the background. So I called the hospital and told the deskclerk to let Spencer know that I was coming back to stay with him. This morning his little bum is so sore, (sorry, maybe TMI), he has been having a lot of really loose stools and by mid morning had already gone through 7 pairs of pj bottoms. So I gave him a bath and then he went through 4 more. They have changed his bed 3 times today and have run out of his size of bottoms on the unit twice now and keep having to send up for more. I am at Ronald McDonald House right now because I had to wash his blanket and he wants me to stay with him tonight. I'm going to the Pharmacy to buy baby wipes, because the cloths at the hospital are just so rough. My poor guy!

Edward's Mommy replied: Keep your head up. You'll get through this! Right now it's one day at a time, but right now, that's all you can handle I'm sure. I hope he feels better! My prayers are continuing and so are my 's to you!

Poor little guy. I'm sure you explained all of this many times before, but could you tell me-
a) how old Spencer is?
why is he in the hospital, what's going on medically with him?

I'm still a little lost on that end of it...I'm sure whatever he's going through is scary, and please know that you're all in my prayers...

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Kirsten, I am so sorry that Spencer is having a rough stretch. Have you asked the nurses about any creams? They should have single use diaper rash ointment packets or something that could help cool/heal/protect.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: The doctor has ordered some cream, but he won't let us put it on him. His nurse said to just let him sock in the tub. The baby wipes seem to be helping, he didn't scream as much lastnight.
