Starbucks not allowing BF

MomToMany replied: UGH!!!! That's just awful! I don't NIP (unless I absolutely have to). I'm real shy, and DH is "overprotective" I guess you could say. So, I nurse in our van before going into the store/restuarant. If baby is hungry in the store/restuarant, DH makes me go to the bathroom. You might remember the whole Old Country Buffet thing.

But I fully support other BFing women who NIP. It's awesome to see them doing it ! It's their right!

We have a Starbucks where I live and I have always breastfeed Claudia there. Even now when she is starting to look more like a toddler I still breastfeed her wherever I need too and no one has ever said anything to me!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I never had anyone say anything to me when I NIP, I was pretty discreat in public most people probably had no clue what I was doing, if someone whould have said something I porpbably would have gone off....how rude of them to tell them thay cant, I say just offer a table more seclueded or have a nursing section.

jcc64 replied: Well, I think Starbucks sucks b/c I don't want to mortgate my house to buy a cup of coffee, but if they don't allow bf, this just confirms how lame it is.
They probably don't allow bf b/c they want you to feed the kid a grande baby latte for $4.95 instead!

5littleladies replied: That is just stupid. I'm done breastfeeding but when I was I would do it wherever I darn well pleased. I even have the state statute allowing women to breastfeed in public memorized and boy I wanted to use it! luckily I only had a problem once and the people didn't even talk to me-they just complained very loudly to each other. People are so dumb.

Kila replied: My bf will be happy to hear that! He is a manager for a coffee shop and is a "coffee snob". He is always talking about how much he hates Starbuck's. This will just affirm the fact that people shouldn't buy from them.

Mailes_mommy replied: oh that makes me mad.. I was in the mall the other day nursing maile while i was walking and had several people say things to me as they walked by. say it to my face. why cant people be happy that we are nursing i feel like a total different breed of a woman because I nurse..

coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I've heard about this story recently, lol. Guess they are joining the ranks of some Walmart stores, Burger Kings, McDonalds....and many more. SIGH. I will have to search around and see if anyone has done a "nurse-in" on this one. I might have to visit our only NEW local Starbucks to show them I WILL NIP in their store.

ROFL! I guarantee you that I am marching to the nearest Starbucks and nursing Isabelle today! I DARE someone to comment. A lady rudley said something about bfing within earshot one time while I was feeding Belle. I told something like - you can complain all you want but you should save your energy and use it to someday help your kids catch up with mine, since mine are scientifically proven to become healthier and smarter than yours. You'll need that energy to work with them. Then I gave a big ole smile.

lsjulee replied: We have a strong unofficial BF foundation group here. When things like that happened and made known, the group would gather all the BF mummies to NIP there.

The operator usually would have to apologize in public for denying the mummy to NIP at their premises.
