Started school again today

I'm not feeling motivated to do much of anything, and Megan keeps saying she's tired and laying her head down on the table. Maddie on the other hand is quite ready to get on with school. Thank goodness for that! Hopefully this slump will be over soon.
coasterqueen replied: I'm right there with Megan. I don't want to do anything! I wish I could put my head down here at work, lol.
Hopefully Megan will get in the spirit soon .
A&A'smommy replied: UGH I hate that!!! I hope ya'll get back in the groove soon!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Ugh. I don't envy you right now! Poor Meg ~ maybe after she gets through today she'll be better about it tomorrow.
mammag replied: Yep, that first day back is rough. Poor kiddies. Mine started back Monday and it is getting back to normal again. I think I had a harder time than them.
5littleladies replied: Well we're done-It actually only took about 1/2 hour longer than usual and contrarily it was Maddie who took her sweet time and not Megan. Once Meg got going she whizzed through her work. Now if I could get the house cleaned we would be in great shape.
Kaitlin'smom replied: wheew I feel the same I dont really want to do anything either except go home curl up with Kaitlin and watch a movie.....
ammommy replied: Do you homeschool?
Chiflata2003 replied: You homeschool? That's great!
5littleladies replied: Yep-this is our 2nd year.
MomToMany replied: Ugh, I have no motivation to do anything either. Must be the cold weather .
Glad the day is over with though.
I think it's really cool that you homeschool. I wouldn't even know where to start. I'm almost tempted to start though. Logan showed me his work from school, and the teacher marked it as correct, when in fact it was all wrong. I think the teacher just looked to see if he had anything written down on the paper .
ammommy replied: Hats off to you! Idon't think I'd have the discipline. I know it's pretty far into the future, but what will you do when the kids are at HS level. Is there a group to help you with complicated math, science, or whatever your strengths aren't? Just curious.
5littleladies replied: We haven't decided for sure yet. We may allow them to go to HS depending on their individual maturity and desire. Our schools also allow homeschoolers to take individual classes while still doing the majority of school at home so that is another option. If they do end up staying at home I guess we will find some support of some kind or I will just learn right along with them.
ammommy replied: That's great that the schools are so flexible! Homeschooling seems to be so much more popular now than in the stone age when i went to school. Maybe we just hear about it more, I don't know.
chloe&tysmommy replied: I really admire you for being so dedicated to your kids! I couldn't imagine myself homeschooling
My2Beauties replied: I wish I could HS Hanna, she is only 1 right now so we will see what the future holds, the thought of public school really scares me with all the shootings and violence in schools nowadays! Desiree has had little boys touch her in not so nice places at school already and she is only in the 3rd grade, I'm not looking forward to that stuff with Hanna! I feel it bad enough with Desiree, I love her as if she were my own daughter, so needles sto say I was absolutely furious when i found out about that little boy!!! Do you ahve to be licensed and stuff, how did you decide on this and how did you get started? Sorry i am so full of questions!
kimberley replied: eeek you have way more motivation than i do! i could never stay focussed enough to home school. props to you! glad it went well in the end.
5littleladies replied: In Minnesota all you have to do is report your lesson plans at the beginning of the year and then send quarterly report cards of their grades. Then at the end of the year they have to take a California Achievement or Iowa basics test, but the results don't have to be reported. I actually haven't even done any of that so far since (at least in MN) you don't have to report your child until he/she is 7 years old and my oldest won't be 7 until next year. You would have to check your states laws to see what the requirements are for your area.
How did we decide? Dh and I have always wanted to homeschool. There is just too much in the public school system that we don't agree with-things kids are taught and not taught, and we feel that for our kids the best thing is for them to learn at home. The year before Maddie started I started doing alot of searching for what I thought would be a good curriculicum to use for her. The internet is loaded with homeschool resources so information is not hard to fine. We are still doing trial and error as to which curriculums we like best-we are doing alot of mixing and matching. It's working our pretty well for us.
I hope that answers your questions.
