Suggestions for PC charity....
MommyToAshley wrote: A few months ago, we had talked about taking up a collection and giving to a charity as a group. Those that want to participate can, but no one is require or should feel like they have to give.
So, I am looking for suggestions for a charity to give to. We'll pick a few and put up a poll and vote on it. Please try to keep it to National organizations.
ammommy replied: How about the Make a Wish Foundation?
kimberley replied: exactly what i was going to suggest. since we are a parenting board, i think its appropriate to find a children's charity. jmo.
amynicole21 replied: I think Make a Wish is a great foundation.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Ronald McDonald House (not sure if it is National, though)
mckayleesmom replied: St Judes
jcc64 replied: I am a BIG fan of Bill Gates' charity- The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is commited to eradicating preventable diseases for impoverished children. I read a piece on it a month or so ago- a very effective, well run organization that is making a HUGE difference:

C&K*s Mommie replied: This will be a hard decision for whoever has to make it. These are all worthy charities.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I am not sure the name..but I heard someone was doing a charity for Children of the Hurricanes durning Christmas.. I will look into that more. They were thrown into something no one could help and don't even have a home yet.
gr33n3y3z replied: I agree
amynicole21 replied: How about Oprah's Angel network?
I have heard bad things about Ronald McDonald house. Funny, the guy who was my dad's best man started that charity (Jimmy Murray - also was the general manager for the Phil. Eagles years ago). He doesn't run it anymore, and he doesn't have many nice things to say about it anymore unfortunately.
MommyToAshley replied: I am going to close this and make a poll with the suggestions we have so we can get started. Please vote in the poll.
Thanks for all the great suggestions.
