Supporting Head ALready? - 6 weeks old

firsttimemommy wrote: I know this is early and seems weird, but my 6 wk old dd when lifted up from a laying down position by her hands can support her head steadly. Am I crazy?! Isn't this a little early?! I'm not freaking out, but people look at me weird when I say it and I feel like I must be imagingin this and making it up or somethin. She even loves to be held to where she can see over my shoulder cuz she'll support her head up so she can "observe". She still "bobbles" when like that, but she can still support it up with any assistance. What do you think? AM i a crazy woman? lol. (i know i'm not)

mckayleesmom replied: Here is Russell at not even 2 months.......This is my favorite picture. BTW...he would hold his head like that since birth...and he was never really wobbily...he always had a strong neck....He could do that without the boppy pillow too. He would hold his head up like that and look around for a long time.

My3LilMonkeys replied: No you are not crazy! All babies develop at different paces - some will hold their heads up early, some late.

kimberley replied: aww cute pic of Russel!! wub.gif

Kaleigh and Jacob were holding up their head for short periods from about 3wks on. and both always had to be upright seeing the world all the time lol. curious kids dunno.gif

jcc64 replied: 6 weeks sounds about right, if memory serves.

ilovemybaby replied: You're not crazy! Abby could hold her head up like that from birth. She could also stand on her legs very early. My mum was the one that pointed it out to me when she visited us in the hospital the same day I gave birth to Abby.
And our nurse said she had good strength in her legs and head.

firsttimemommy replied: thanks gals! Good to know that i'm really going bonkers. biggrin.gif yes, dd is very curious...should i be scared for what's to come?! tongue.gif just jokin! biggrin.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Katy was lifting her head up for short periods of time the day she was born. and by 6 weeks she had total head control.

ashtonsmama replied: Nope-not wacko.gif ! She's just an early bloomer I'm guessing...my little guy is about 11 weeks and he starting doing that around 9 weeks...a little sooner maybe...

Edward's Mommy replied: Edward was doing that at 2 weeks! sleep.gif It made me cry! bawling.gif But he was standing on my lap (held of course) when he was 3 weeks. He's developed so fast, I hope the next one goes a little slower!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: yup it's fine - my kids could all pretty much lift their heads from birth.. i have funny memories of them - i called them chicken peckers, cuz they'd "peck" at me to find a nip. laugh.gif

Mom2BNTN replied: Our son Dylan has been holding his head up since birth, but his neck is getting even stronger and he can hold his head up for longer periods of time now at about 4 weeks. biggrin.gif

garrettsmom replied: Garrett was holding his head up within hours of his birth.
