Switching Tripp - to formula
mom2tripp wrote: I know I may get some hateful replies to this but anyway---Tripp is 7 months old and for those of you who read my topics you know that he is seemingly not interested in nursing that much anymore. Also, I may be selfish for feeling this way but I can NEVER be away from him and sometimes you just need to get away. Any suggestions on what formula to switch him to and has anyone else experienced this??
Kaitlin'smom replied: can you pump and feed him expressed milk?
PS congrats for making it this far
mom2tripp replied: Thank you and yes I have been pumping but this morning when I pumped I didn't even get an ounce I just think maybe it's time to move on
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well maybe you can do both keep pumping (I am no expert on it, maybe someone can help with that) I cant remember the type of formula I used on occasion.
Good luck and I hope someone can give you good pumping advice if you want to try and do that or both.
moped replied: When i quit bf I bought the most expensive stuff, but realized there was very little difference, so I bought the walmart brand and it was great, and way cheaper.
Hope this helps
ediep replied: you could ask your ped what type they reccommend, but we used Carnation good Start, Jason tolerated it well and it wasn't that expensive
moped replied: If you find he spits up alot, there is a special one for babies that spit up.......made by enfamil I think
mom2tripp replied: thank you guys for some suggestions
moped replied: Also...........................if you want to continue bfing, because it is important for Tripp, you could hold out and see what he does int he next few weeks and you will find htat he will regulate a lot soon because he is getting a bit older. I doubt your supply would go away
mom2tripp replied: thanks jen
JAYMESMOM replied: I used Isomil with Jayme. She could not tolerate regular formula. According to my pediatrician regular formula is pretty much all the same with each brand. If one was the best than every one would use that and the others wouldn't exsist. Unless Tripp seems sensitive to regular formula I would go with whatever is most affordable for you.
Don't feel bad about giving formula. When Jayme was 8 months I started supplementing with formula because it was getting to hard to pump at work. She did just fine. I continued to nurse when I was home and she is still nursing today.
It is improtant that you don't burn yourself out trying to be "Super Mom". Sometimes it is time to add formual or switch completely.
ammommy replied: When I weaned Megan, I got a bunch of samples from the ped to see what she took to. Unfortunately, Enfimil was the one that did the best for her. Go to the websites of the formula companies to get good coupons. Congrats on making it this far
BTW...the great thing about this site is that I know I may get some hateful replies to this but anyway you won't!
RayaJoysmommy replied: I would agree with that!!
Raya's still nursing but she does occasionally take a formula bottle and when she does she takes Enfamil Lipil with RHA and DHA(?). Anyway it's supposed to be like breast milk. Good luck and congratulations on coming this far.
