TIDY UP TUESDAY - come join us!
coasterqueen wrote: Let's tidy up Tuesday ladies and gents!
Today lets see if we can *tidy* up one room in our house. It can be a small room or a large room, whatever your choice is and what will motivate you the most. You don't have to spic and span the room, just tidy it up so it will look like the cleanest room in the house.
I don't know about the rest of you but I get overwhelmed with the household cleaning responsibilities when I see that my house looks like twin tornadoes came through and destroyed the place. I go bonkers. So one thing I always do is one room at a time. It's the only way I can do it. I work from one side of the house to the other.
So let's here what room you plan to tidy up today or have already done! Any tips for *tidying* up a room are more than welcome as well.
amymom replied: Ok I am going to tidy the computer desk. (Can't commit to a whole room )
Yesterday I tidied the 2nd desk in the computer room. Today the computer desk.
Ok... Now I have to do it!!
Thanks for the encouragement!
mckayleesmom replied: Awww Mom!!!...Do I have to??
I guess I will choose.......the kitchen....but I will do it later.
coasterqueen replied: That's a start! If you saw my den desk, that in itself is a couple hours of cleaning. All that filing I've been putting off work a year or more, seriously.
I think I'll tidy up the laundry room tonight and if I get fiesty enough I'll tidy up the girls' playroom.
coasterqueen replied:
YES!
Here's some motivation....

Pssst....she's saying GO BRIANNE, you can do it, GO BRIANNE!
luvbug00 replied: Ummm I'll dust. The whole apartment which is = to a room for most of you. Sooo tiny....
mckayleesmom replied: I really don't have that much to do.....I cleaned the kids rooms last night.....the living room just needs toys thrown in the toy crate......
Maybe I will do my room and the bathroom and kitchen.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Sounds like a plan-I really do need to tackle the whole house I have been frightfully lazy this weekend and yesterday we played all day! Thanks for the encouragement! I usually start at one end of the house and move to the other end by the time I reach my bathroom the whole house is spic and span-it is better than running from room to room and never really finishing anything! OK here I go-talk to you all tonight in my nice clean house! Thanks Karen!
My2Beauties replied: I guess I will probably start in the livingroom then when I get home! Not looking forward to it but I want the house to be spic and span when DH comes home this Friday!
Kaitlin'smom replied: my house is a mess we did not have much time to clean this weekend I will pick the dining room table I HATE seeing stuffed piled on it.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well this weekend was more than productive for me - I cleaned out both hallway closets, as well as the baby`s room, which DH had packed with junk, again.
I also went through more of my clothes to give away - and picked up the HUGE pile of clothes from my bedroom - which is now in the bathroom, awaiting their wash...I got through about a third already.
I have, seriously, like 12 evening dresses. All too small for me. They were expensive, and I wore most of them only once or twice.... but I`m too stubborn to give them away. I WILL fit in them once again, oh yes, I WILL fit into them....
Both kids rooms are relatively clean - since we have a housekeeper come in once a week to wash the floors, and clean the bathroom... she won`t wash the floor if there`s crap all over it... so Thursdays is our Children`s room cleanup day... so that Fridays, the housekeeper can wash our floors. Usually our floors are pretty clean in the rest of the appartment, so no problems.
Dh spent most of Sunday on his computer playing a darn game.... so I gave him crap every chance I could about he better be enjoying his time on the computer while I was watching the kids AND cleaning up - because once the new baby was here, I wasn`t going to lift a FINGER, and I wasn`t going to tolerate any messes. He didn`t like that too much.... and did the dishes and a load of laundry to 'help'. like as IF that dented the pile of what I did... lol
Anyhoo - hopefully, tonight I will be able to finish cleaning up my room - so that I can go and choose a paint color for the walls, since my mat leave starts soon and I`ll be wanting something new to do....
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I need to clean the bathroom (I HATE cleaning that room) and I need to file all my papers in the computer room. It will have to wait until I get home from work. I won't have anytime this weekend. It is our towns annual Pumpkin Fest, so I will be there all weekend. I hate cleaning!!!!!!!!!!!
Our Lil' Family replied: Just what I was thinking!
Ok, guess I'll do my room since I have clean clothes on the floor that need to be hung and more in the dryer that will end up in that same pile if I don't do it today!
moped replied: Can I just tidy my office - that would really make me happy if it were cleaner
julesmom replied: Oooo, I like this.
I am working on my kitchen today. Got 1/2 the floor cleaned already.
elvisfan replied: Well, I like the idea of tidy up Tuesday! Hmm, my computer room is really a disaster but I'm not so sure I want to start with it! Maybe I'll try the living room. Then if I'm feeling adventerous and have time I'll start on the computer room!
coasterqueen replied: Of course!
beautifullychaotic replied: I am going to do the living room its in total disarray, and really needs it. Heh I will probably end up doing it 6 times because it is also the playroom
3_call_me_mama replied: I did the living room adn kitchen.. now for the MOUNDS of laundry:(
coasterqueen replied: Great job Carrie!
Like DH always tells me...do one load a day and laundry won't be such a fuss. He can manage to do it, but I can't seem to manage to do that.
MomToMany replied: This is an awesome idea Karen!
I got my 7 baskets of laundry folded this morning ( ). That's my accomplishment for the day!
(That's not counting the 3,000 cables I built for DH before lunch.)
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Awww man! It's Tuesday already.
I will clean the living room and kitchen when I get back from picking up sissy. Then if I have more energy I will do some laundry. Actually, I have to do laundry...I don't have a choice.
Thanks Karen!
~KARA~ replied: I cleaned my hole house yesterday!! and Ill do it again tomorrow so there really isnt anything for me to tidy up
mom21kid2dogs replied: I just logged on for a sec in between cleaning the kitchen and making lasagne. My new rule is no computer 'til the "chores" are done. You may never hear from me again!!
I cleaned all the tile floor rooms(5) today after doing all the wood floor rooms(5) yesterday. My discover dujour~ the range hood has a filter in the fan. I've lived here over 20 years and the range hood predates me. Needless to say it might be time to replace the filter!!
My2Boyz replied: I am going to clean my desk off at work. I can't see it and it is starting to annoy me. It feels like I spend more time at work so that is my goal before I leave the office today.
coasterqueen replied: WOW! Got any tips for our moms on how you are doing this with three kids? Inquiring minds want to know!
coasterqueen replied: Well I decided to tidy up the livingroom and kitchen. DONE! whew!
~KARA~ replied: KAREN my house is VERY small!!! Most of the time Im cleaning to keep myself awake or off of here!! I only have 2 of the kids from 9am to 3:45. Kaden sleeps most of the time, and maddi has discovered her "invisible friend"
My kitchen and living room are the first 2 that people see, so they are always clean. I use the pamolive dish wipes and do the dishes as we dirty them. I cant stand to see any type of dirt on my living room floor so I vaccum 2 or 3 times a day. The girls have to clean their room daily, Kaden's room isnt used yet except to hold his stuff. and my room the only thing we do in there is sleep. I make the bed as I get out of it. In the shower I keep a bottle of cleaner and my dh has to spray it down after he gets out. Then I wipe everything else down after rinsing the tub/shower. I only do 7 loads of laundry a week for 5 of us 2 loads of dh's clothes, 1 for each kid(3) and 2 of my clothes and towles/sheets.
I have always been a neat freak, expecially after we moved in to thiis house in 2002. Its old, drafty with bugs/spiders everywhere. No gross bugs just normal everyday/outside bugs.
If anyone wants "help" Im sure I can come up with ideas to help make cleaning easier. Just ask!!
CantWait replied: Ok I got a few things done today. I folded a load of laundry, put all Robbie's laundry away. Changed the sheets on Robbie's bed. Got dinner started and cleaned the living room.
