jacobsmama wrote: This is TMI but I am having severe constipation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I can't really cut back on my vitamins, but I had to take additional iron already for anemia and I cut back on that. I dont eat that much and I do eat healthy because I want what I do eat to count good...I am taking zofran for the N/V and to help with the not eating...but what else can I do?

I dont like to take metamucil and stuff but it seems ot be the only way to get things going..it is TERRIBLE..I mean worst thing I have ever experienced... bawling.gif

So what foods work for you? Or does anyone have suggestions besides taking meds or supplements over the counter, I am trying to avoid that if at all possible.

I have been trying:

Applesauce
Bran Cereal
Bran In general
More fiber

what else would you suggest? hug.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Veggies and leafy greens esp. Spinach. WATER lots and LOTS AND LOTS of water! I am so sorry girl! How about some of that flavorless fiber stuff?

jacobsmama replied: I haven't heard of flavorless fiber around here?

I am just trying ot avoid an RX or meds, trying to do more natural...hmmm

I hate spinach...and I am doing pleanty of water... sleep.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I had that problem soooo bad when I was pg with Alison, I was having contraction like pains from it it was so bad. My doctor gave me a prescription for Colace because I was so miserable. It helped big time. Nothing else I tried did any good - I was already drinking plenty water, and eating fruit, and taking Benefiber (which was too rediculously expensive for how many doses worth were in a bottle).

luvmykids replied: What about Colace? I know it's not "natural", but it's super gentle. I was on a med that gave me terrible problems in this area blush.gif and I liked it because it wasn't like a lot of laxatives that hit you all of the sudden, just felt very "normal".

I also agree with the water.....so much you think you'll have to swim to the bathroom laugh.gif

jacobsmama replied:
We give colace alot..I think I am going ot have to suck it up and try it..because I am MISERABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear I am not alone in this embarassing problem.

After 10 minutes in bathroom hubby comes knocking??? are you ok????

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO terrible... bawling.gif

luvmykids replied: I'm sorry you're so miserable hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I had to miss a job interview once because it was so bad blush.gif In that case, I think you really should try the Colace, even if it's just to get some temporary relief, then keep up the other things you're doing to try to prevent it from getting so bad again hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: It is miserable...I'm so sorry, sweetie. hug.gif

I think you will find that the colace will help tremendously.

ZandersMama replied: macdonalds double cheeseburgers tongue.gif

Calimama replied: Colace for sure!! They prescribed it to me after getting out of the hospital with Miabella to help and they are awesome!

booey2 replied: Watermelon is also a great help in getting things moving. I have been there before. My this pass quickly for you.

A&A'smommy replied: a cup of coffee?? Really it does work

I'm sorry I tried to tough it out when I was pregnant with Autumn (and I did) I was miserable too. If you can take something take it hug.gif hug.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: I don't know if this would help, I've not experienced that problem but one of the prenatal vitamin samples I got had a stool softener in it...it's called Precare. I'm avoiding it just because I don't need it but that could help you out, do y'all have any of that in the office?

jacobsmama replied:
Yes, the vitamin I am taking has a stool softner..Thank you all for your suggestions!!

I am going to get an RX monday when I go into work for some Colace:)

I think it will do the trick..thanks for convincing me...haha

Bamamom replied: Warm apple juice - they gave it to me after my c section to get things moving. Just drink a warm coffee cup full every thirty minutes or so. It may take two or three hours but it really works. HTH!!!! hug.gif

MommyToAshley replied: What about prune juice? I know that stuff doesn't taste that great, but it will get things moving pretty quickly. Just make sure you get the kind that is 100% juice. And, it is healthy for you and that baby too. hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
BINGO!!!...I'm glad I'm not the only one. McDonalds was my mirracle worker when I was pregnant with Mckaylee....It didn't matter how much flavorless crud I used or sprinkled in my food, water I drank or greens I ate....Nothing worked like McDonalds.

I would have Leithan pick it up for me on days when It was miserable for me....
