Tattoos - do you/would you get one?
Bee_Kay wrote: While at my friends house (the new grandma) last weekend, her brother and his family stopped in to visit.
He was telling me that he bought tatooing equipment and ink and stuff and he started doing tatoos. He gave himself one, he gave his wife 2, his son (who is 17) a huge one across his back, one on his 18 year old daughter...... and now he is thinking of giving one to his 15 year old daughter.
Don't get me wrong he is very artistic and all, but *yikes* tatooing a 15 year old?? I think that is way too young for something like a tatoo.
Do you have any tattoos? or do you plan on getting any?
I have thought about it... but not really seriously. If I were to get one, I'd probably choose something pretty with Ashley and Tyler's names. But, I don't know if I would ever actually do it.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I don't currently have one but I am planning on getting one once I am done losing weight. That gives me about a year to figure out what I want as long as I stay on track.
TheOaf66 replied: I have wanted one for a long time but have a hard time justifying the expense. If the tatoo guy screws up or it doesn't look right you're stuck and it is pretty expensive to put a picture on your body so you have to pick something you could always live with but I would love to get one so I wish I knew someone who had their own equipment.
mammag replied: I wouldn't ever get one. First of all because I know I would end up getting sick of it. Second because I think bare skin is far more attractive. Third because dh thinks it looks trashy. But to each his own. I have no problem with other people having them....it's just not my kind of thing.
My2Beauties replied: 15 years old is entirely way too young to get a tattoo IMHO, I got my first one at 18 and I still think sometimes I wasn't being rational! I love my tattoo it's beautiful but it doesn't really represent anything to me. Then my second one is just my name on my arm, it was sort of the thing to do when I got it, but now I'm like why the he!! do I need my name on my own arm?? BUt I do like them, I love tattoos on men, very sexy, as long as they aren't overly tattooed. 2 or 3 is nice! I want one more myself but will think long and hard before I get it, I want it to be meaningful!
My2Beauties replied: Really? He thinks they're trashy - I've never ran into a guy that didn't think a tattoo on the small of a woman's back wasn't sexy? I mean that is fine, to each it's own, I just have never heard a guy say that before. Even corporate business men come up to me and they're like that is awesome!!
JP&KJMOM replied: I don't have any. I am wayyyyyyy to chicken to get one. I do have a friend that just got a really cute one and it looks great!
Mikaelasmom replied: I have 2 tatoos. One on the small of my back and one on the back of my right shoulder. I plan on getting one more eventually. I personally think 15 is a little young but if the parents are cool with it then I say go for it.
Bee_Kay replied: Yeah... my DH needs to get one! And here is why....
When he was a teenager he was drinking heavily one night.... his friend decided to tattoo him
Here is what he ended up with ...
It's supposed to be a skull on top of a cross ....... or something.
But, it's like a skull that has a smiley face on it. The cross has hands (with fat fingers) on each side. It's about only like 2 inches by 3 inches.
It is the most ridiculously funny thing I've ever seen!!! LOL So, he went in for a consultation to a tattoo artist so see if he could get it covered.... and he can. He just has to get around to getting it done.
gr33n3y3z replied: I have one on my ankle and I got that when I was 32 I always wanted one but I was never sure if I really wanted it so it took 19 years to decide if I wanted it LOL I would like another so far that has taken 4 years of me thinking back and forth about the next one if I get it I get it if not I'm happy with what I got.
Oh and 15 is way to darn young for a tattoo
Bee_Kay replied: LeaAnn.... I think a tattoo on the small of a womans back is absolutely ADORABLE.
BAC'sMom replied: Yes, I do. I got one around my ankle for my 29th birthday. I have no plans for anymore tattoos, but then again you never know.
Hey Karen that is what we can do this weekend when I come to see you. We can go out and get tattoos. Don't you want to feel trashy with me!
Bee_Kay replied:
OMG! I almost choked from laughing so hard when I read that!!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: 15yo is too young, IMO too. Even at 20 you may get something that you will later regret.
Not that I am old and wise at 28, but I have thought long and hard about wanting to get two tattoos on my outer shoulders for a looong time. I just never knew what. But a yr or two back I found these great designs of a horse and a monkey, that were not the conventional horse and monkey designs. You have to pay for the design, so I do not have a copy of it yet, but that is my plan to get that. The horse would represent Christian and the monkey would represent Kellie. They are the Chinese zodiacs according to their birth yrs.
One of these days I plan to go forward with it. Everytime I watch Miami Ink on TLC, it spurs me on to want to get it done sooner than later.
BAC'sMom replied:
Sorry!
And just for the record I by no means feel trashy, and personal could care less about what other people think.

Jackie012007 replied: DH wants one with the baby's name on it... once we find out what it is and what we are going to name it, lol. I wanted one for a while but I got my nose pierced instead... 2 years later I've taken it out because I don't want people to think I am some dumb kid who got knocked up, I wanna be like an adult mommy. The novelty wore off after a while, for me I think the same would happen with a tattoo... but I love looking at the ones that others get!
AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD LET MY 15 YEAR OLD, OR MY 17 YEAR OLD GET A TATTOO!!! I don't care if God himself offered to do the work, no way!
5littleladies replied: I wouldn't ever get a tattoo. I don't have anything against them, but I don't want to put something permanent on my body that I may not like in 20 years. As for my kids, when they are 18 they can go ahead and do what they want, but as long as I have a say, they won't be doing any tattoing.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Me too! Bawk bawk!
boyohboyohboy replied: I have a tattoo in the small of my back, just above the bikini line. Its a dolphin jumping out of a wave, the entire time I was preg. (both times I always keep an eye on it) I am so afraid of it stretching out of shape... I did it when I was in my 20's thought it would make me feel cool, and not like such a goodie, goodie, still waiting for that affect! If I could take it off I would.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Sal and I went a while back and got tattoo's. We both want to get Isabella's footprint somewhere also. I got a startrail that I designed on my lower right hip < back side! With an S in one of the stars.
Sal has a Geko on his right shoulder with a J by the tail end
lisar replied: I have 3 of them. One on my back on the bottom. 1 on my right arm and 1 on my right leg. All of the can be covered if need be. I dont mid tattos but I like to get them to where they can be covered if I need them to be...Mine are very pretty I thought about them a long time before I get them. 2 of them are originals no one else has one like it. Although they might by now if they seen it on me and then drew it up them selves. They took pictures of one of them and hung it in there tatto place so that one I know has been duplicated.
garrettsmom replied: I have one on my lower back, and I would eventually like to get another one some day soon.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I dont have any tattoos The only thing I would get is my sons name, there is nothing else I love enough to put on my body
mummy2girls replied: i have one.. A tattoo of a butterfly with jordans name under it. I did it in his honor one the 1 year ann of his death:(
zdk753 replied: I am wanting to get an anklet w/ my kids' names as the charms on my ankle. I am also wanting to get a cross on my shoulder blade. Now to just get the nerve up to do it.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I have one, I got it as a freshman in college. It's on my lower stomach near my hip, not a place most people see, but now somewhere I was embarrassed to show the tattoo guy. I still like it, 12 years later. But often I forget it's even there. I am planning on getting another one. Probably some Celtic knot on my shoulder. I feel a bit more daring now that my mom can't say anything about it. (She's got two of the now, she got them about 2 or 3 years ago.)
ashtonsmama replied: Nope. And won't let my kids until they're at least 40. OK--18 legally. But if they love me...they won't get any without my consent under 20. J/K
Kaitlin'smom replied: I currently have 2 but been tatooed on 3 times. My first tatoo took me a long time to find what I wanted and where to put it. It was 2 roses intertwined to symbolixe my marriage. I later added on when I had Kaitlin. So now its 3 roses to symbolize my family. I also have one on the small of my back, it was a combo design, when I went in to look I was consulted about picing something for the center of it that had meaning to me, so I did and then found something to go around it. I plan on one more. Currenty both are almost always not shown unless I choose to.
J-rod replied: i got one...this is it..taken shortly after i got it.....
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c267/jcv...202006/tat1.jpg
i will go back sometime and have it touched up and added too...ill carry the design out over my shoulders...had it designed that way but doing a little at a time....also gonna have it outlined in red.
ZandersMama replied: my husband is a tattoo artist, he does his own and has about 20. I only have one, on my shoulder for zander, but i plan to get one on the other shoulder for the baby coming and one between my shoulder blades for the one i lost.
holley79 replied: I have one on my lower back. I was 26 years old when I got it. I don't think Annika will be allowed to have one till she is over the age of 18, if she wants one. I'm not signing permission for her to have one. JMHO
Jeffs Wife replied: I could have said it better myself
BAC'sMom replied: J-Rod love the tattoo
C&K*s Mommie replied: ya, I liked your tattoo Jared, too.
Talking with a friend last night about her tattoos, and she has one on the back of her neck- which she said did not hurt in the least. He (the artist) was very heavy handed so she did not feel a thing, that spurred me on even more to find a good artist to trust my skin with and do this as I have always wanted to do. If only I could fly down to Miami, and get one of those tattoo artists on Miami Ink to do it.....
J-rod replied: thanks for the compliments you two.
my bro was in miami spring break...the shoop they show on tv is their real shop but none of them wok there...he said the line was 2 blocks long...to make an appt for a tattoo.
you have to apply to be on the show and get one of the real B.A.'s to do it
C&K*s Mommie replied: I believe it about having a long line and a good customer base, but geesh 2 blocks to simlply make an appt!
Well in a sense, they (all 5 of the stars on that show) are celebrities in a reality tv sense, so I assume they stepped down from working there. But my oh my, to have a chance to see Nunez, or Ami in person..... YOWZA!!
J-rod replied: yea they work in a closed set studio most of the time....still be pretty cool
id love to have garver do one for me
3xsthefun replied: I don't have one right now, but plan on having one later on. I still haven't decided what I want yet. I'm thinking about something having do with the kids.
I think 15 is way to young to have a tattoo.
toady_buckshot_noodle replied: I have always said I wanted a tattooed bracelet around my ankle but I would never actually do it.
luvmykids replied: I think 15 is way to young too. I don't have any and at the moment don't plan to get one but that could change!
My2Beauties replied: Does anyone do designs on here? I want one more, something with Hanna's name in it and something that I can add onto incase I have another child.
J-rod replied: i played a part in mine....but i wouldnt ever do one for anyone else...best bet is to draw something...anything yourslef....take to the artist and talk with him...give him time to draw something up.....then go back and meet with him again
Bee_Kay replied: Last week Tyler (who is 13) told me he wanted a tattoo
So, I thought about it and said "Sure you can!"
He was SHOCKED!! and said "really?"
I said "Yep, as long as I get to pick it out and choose WHERE it goes!"
He laughs and rolls his eyes and said "yeah, ok.... what?"
I said "It has to be a tattoo that said I LOVE MY MOM... and you have to put it on your right buttcheek!!!"!!!
He just shook his head and walked away mumbling "well you know I won't get that!!" Hahahaha!
He was so deflated!!
Seriously though (he is still somewhat a mama's boy, & he told me that he seriously does want a tattoo when he gets older that says "mom" on it (of course that may change in the next couple years)
ashtonsmama replied:
Go Barb!
TANNER'S MOM replied: got some.
And I don't think the are trashy if done right. I think the home made, jail bird ones are trashy.. but a nice one done by an artist is awesome.
ashtonsmama replied: I hope no one thought I was saying all tats were bad, I just don't want my kids getting them, IMO.
punkeemunkee'smom replied:
I might maybe possibily know somebody who knows somebody who could give you the name of a good artist! I do have one(probably guessed that huh?) I just got it. I always wanted one but did not want one that was not 100% original and was something I would never regret. I got a tattoo of a drawing that Tay did with the word's Taylor's Mommy in her handwriting on my shoulder blade....I LOVE it and the guys at the shop had never seen anything like it and want pics of it once it heals up
Think 15 is too young and I would never get one in somebody's house....as for it being trashy....to each their own I guess
BAC'sMom replied:
Well if that is the case I might have to look you up while I am in San Antonio this weekend.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I would love to see it also, will you post a pic when it healed?
jcc64 replied: Depends on the location, quality of the tattoo, amount of coverage, and whether the skin tends to sag in later life. Tattoos on old people rarely if ever look attractive, imo, b/c the skin loses its firmness. I definitely don't like massive tattoos, although I can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into some of the more elaborate ones. I agree that a tattoo on the small of a woman's back is very sexy, and I don't mind one or two on a guy, but I could never think of a single image that I wouldn't get tired of at some point. So, I have none, but to each his own....
BAC'sMom replied: I pondered the idea of getting a tattoo for many years…. 11 years to be exact. When I finally decided to get one (which just happen to be my 29th birthday) I told the DH that I wanted a piece of jewelry that I would never loss. Considering that I had lost both bracelets that he had given me for both previous birthdays, he was open to the idea well kind of. So here is the tattoo

I plan to have the beads colored (maybe in the never future) and have charms added. I would like a charm to represent something about each of my children and my Grandmother. My grandmother charm idea a dove and DS#2 a four leaf clover, he’s my St Patty’s baby. As for the other two kiddos still have not decided.
So I think it is something that I can defiantly live with.
