Tax return! - $$$$$$$
PrairieMom wrote: We finally got around to doing our tax return the other day. We will be getting back a little chunk. Now the debate is what to do with it?! I am planning on paying off our credit card bill, then starting a savings account for each of the kids. Our bank requires a minimum of $300. in a savings account before they charge you fees. we are so boring! I really want a table and chairs for our deck. Darn financial responsibility!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Thanks for the reminder - I didn't file my state taxes yet! They're not so exciting because we don't get any money back from them so they always wait until the last minute.
With our return we paid off some bills and bought a new TV.
kayla's mama replied: We already got ours back and we spent it on bills If we didn't have to I would have put it into a saving account to Kayla
PrairieMom replied: oh! a new TV is fun! It is always more fun when you get $ back.
mom89 replied: We already did ours back in January,I think
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope to get a new lap top and pay off a bill But in order to do that we have to get them done lol
MamaJAM replied: We did our taxes in early Jan because we saw we were to get a little refund....with DH's job situation and our major need for cash (no paycheck from Dec 31 through Mar 3)......we were REALLY boring -- we used our refund to pay the electric and gas bills - buy groceries - etc.
Isn't it nice to have a little money to actually take care of some of the headaches you have?
PrairieMom replied: yeah, unfortunately, I know the credit card bill will creep up there again, and be a problem by this time next year! visious never ending cycle. It will buy us a little time to pay down on our home improvement loan tho! That is our last loan, then we will be done! By then it will be time to buy a car or somethng!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: We did ours back in January too...paid off some bills and I got new dining room chairs!! Not much fun, but useful
coasterqueen replied: yeah we go the financial responsibility route every time we come into any amount of money. I'd feel guilty if I didn't go that route though first.
Kaitlin'smom replied: got mine last week, so far I have paid to fix the garage door, will put some away for christmas and we will use the rest to fix up the house. We are thinking of putting the house on the market this summer/fall. So we have some things we need to do to get the best price out of it. Not much fun but oh well maybe next years will be more fun to spend.
MommyToAshley replied: I get so jealous of you guys at tax time. I always think of what we could buy with the money we are sending to Uncle Same.
Have fun and enjoy. I think it's good that you want to pay off the bills and save some. I think you should just take a small amount and do somethign fun with it too.
Kaitlin'smom replied: BTDT we always payed till we had Kait, she is the reason we finally get money back.
I know how you feel though.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hmmm. I owed quite a bit of money last year... (4700$) and with the interest and penalties etc it's like 5200$ now...
but I hadn't gotten my CTB (Child Tax Benefit) since last july, because I hadn't done my taxes, so I got that deposited just last week (about 1200$) since I did my taxes for 2004...
we jst did our taxes for 2005 about 2 weeks ago - and I'm supposed to be getting about 5800$ back... so there goes my refund - back to the government to pay off 2004's debt...*sigh* oh well - about 600$ left over comes to me...and dh is supposed to be getting about 1200$... it comes at a GREAT time. It will keep us floating for a while!
darn government you know taxes are "optional" in Canada? Ya right.. some people got it good - anyone interested, check out Tom Kennedy and taxes on google... he's a friend of mine's father. He's my hero.
luvmykids replied: We've been holding on to ours trying to figure out what to do, we've used a little here and there but still waiting .... I'm in serious need of a new vehicle but don't know what I want, so some of it may go towards that. Other than that, I don't know. Hmmm... actually keep it in the bank maybe?
