Tell us about your zoo?

MamaJAM wrote: OK -- the dog and bunny posts got me thinking...we always talk about our kids -- but how about sharing info on your furry, feathered, gilled, or scaley family members.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I have 3 furkids. 1 guinea pig named Peanut Butter and 2 ferrets named Gravy and Oatmeal. Our first ferret was named Biscuit, so it made more sense then. So we had Biscuit and Gravy. Then along came Oatmeal (we had to stick to breakfast foods) and finally Peanut Butter (I didn't want to name him Sausage or Bacon as he is a pig.)

MamaJAM replied: Right now we have:

~1 dog - a golden retriever (8 years old)....she loves the kids - and helps protect the house and family
~2 kittens - grey/black short hair tabbies (16 weeks old)...they, technically, belong to DD#2 and DD#3 -- they are little terrors and get into evetything...though they also like to cuddle which is what the girls really wanted
~9 goldfish (I think) - the goldfish joined the family because they are DD#1's science fair project this year....sadly - the number keeps changing -- once the project is over - we'll have 2 fishbowls to enjoy

In the past we've had -
~1 guinea pig -- we had to give him away because the cat we had suddenly took an unhealthy interest in him
~1 small dog - a Papillion -- after 2+ years and she wasn't even trying to be housebroken - I couldn't take it anymore....we gave her to ILs (they still have her) - it works out well - the kids still get to see her and I don't have to deal with her constant pooping in the house
~3 hampsters (back-to-back)
~4 other cats -- 2 of them we had to give away when the apartment we lived in threatened to kick us out if we didn't get rid of them (then they kicked us out anyway....and it was too late to get our kitties back!) -- 1 had some type of mental-breakdown and after a few years of trying every drug and treatment out there he finally really snapped and we had to have him put to sleep -- 1 (who was DD#1's cat) suddenly became ill and in 2 days was too sick to be saved
~countless fish in several aquariums over the years

My3LilMonkeys replied: We have:

1 dog - an American Eskimo mix, Joker (from the movie Batman). She's a very sweet dog with some behavioral issues that we are working on.

2 Cats - 1 black w/a white spot on her chest, Batcat (Also after Batman). 1 grey tiger striped, Riddles (After the Riddler - have you found the common theme yet? biggrin.gif ). Both cats are very mild mannered and great with the kids.

3 Pirahnas that are DH's "babies". I pretty much leave them alone.

1 small tank of feeder fish for the pirahnas

5 hermit crabs - Bane, Noodles, Ricky, Jerry, and Tree. They don't do a whole lot but are pretty neat little guys.

Next is another cat, probably near the end of the year. Batcat is DH's and Riddles is Brookes so once Madison gets a little older she'll need her own. I want to name the next one Catwoman emlaugh.gif .

3xsthefun replied: I have 4 dogs:

C&K*s Mommie replied: Let me see, Chris and I have had:

**red-eared slider turtles: they were illegal to buy young (which we did not know)-- we gave them to a good pet store eventually.

**(4) birds over the last eight years-- Ernie, Cayenne, Pepper, one whose name I forget & Cinnamon<<~~the one that I before meeting Chris that made (5) total

** Simba (a mix breed dog) (our house was too small, we had to give him away for his benefit) & Taison (our Boston Terrier) wub.gif

No pets at all right now.

PrairieMom replied: we have one big'ol black mutt named Lycos. he is a bordercollie/ black lab mix. He's one crazy lookin animal!

Kaitlin'smom replied: We currently have 3 cats Tia, Staci and Cami

moped replied: No pets here - but one day I would like a yellow Lab!

gr33n3y3z replied: lets see I have a scaley member which is a Ele. Blue Jack Dempsy
and a house rabbit that is fully trained and is also going on 9 years old.
Thats it for now

CosmetologyMommy replied: none right now. We had a cat named Purity but she turned MEAN! Plus, I was scared with her around the baby. So i told dh to take her to his work and see if someone wants her, but instead when I left for school, He opens our patio door and lets her out! That cat came back night after night, screaming into the window!

punkeemunkee'smom replied: We have 2 outdoor cats and the world record holding LARGEST guiena pig rolling_smile.gif named Floppy(We went to get Tay a rabbit and ended up with him-she did not realize the difference and the name stuck! rolling_smile.gif )

I posted a pic of him a few months back but here he is again blush.gif

luvmykids replied: We currently have:
Stevie , a b&w shitzhu. He's my fur baby but not fond of a lot of other people.
Bogie , our HUGE yellow lab. He usually goes to work with DH and stays at our horse farm during the week, he's miserable in the city where we're staying right now and is only here on weekends. Awesome watchdog, likes to tease me.
Poncho , our coyote/shephard mix. Sweetest, most eager to please dog ever, staying with friends until we move back to the country.

Horses: Emily , my barrel horse, Rio & Red , dead broke trail horses, and 11 racehorses, 3 of whom are about to have darling babies!

Stevie is the only one at our "city" house, the others are at our horse farm where we're building a house. All the animals have a home there but we don't!
