The NAILS! - I need some help here...

I can't help you there because I have only cut Maddies nails once. My sister always cuts then , she can't stand when her nails get long . She should be on here soon , maybe she can help.

It's a nightmare I tell ya! Daddy is super daddy right? LOL He won't even attempt the nails and that is so not like him! I can't wait to hear how your sister does it!! She needs some sort of medal!

~CrazieMama~ replied: Hey there!!! I am Maddie's Aunt. I cut her nails and toes nails all the time. I hate when they are long. Maddie also has very small nail-beds. They are hard to cut if you are not careful. Your best bet is to cut them when your baby is asleep or in the high chair. Make sure you pull the skin back as far as you can. Make sure you are fast!!!! They don't have to perfect. If you are still afraid of cutting them, you can also try using a nail file. File the nails down. You don't have to worry about cutting your precious baby and your baby just might like it. HTH Good luck!! Happy clippings.

dhoppygirl replied: As for toe nail clipping....uhh I think we are guilty of just putting his socks on and not noticing how long his toenails are!!! The few times we've cut them, one of us has distracted and help hold him in one spot...nails are tricky I tell you!!

Guest replied: I used to cut Ashley's nails when she was asleep, but she wakes up if I try to do that. She is a very active person and doesn't sit still for long. I usually try to distract her with something and cut them... I never get to cut all the nails at once.

I think toe nails are easier...I wait until she is laying on her tummy playing with something and bend her knee up and cut them...I am looking upside down, if that makes any sense. Since I am behind her and she is distracted with a toy, she hardly notices.

She has one toe nail on her big toe that is growing at an angle down and it keeps breaking off real low. (I cut them straight across) It looked red the other day, but it looks better today. I am going to have to have the Ped look at it.

maliksmommy replied: Malik sits pretty good when I do his fingernails and his toes don't grow too fast but when they are long they just tear off real easily to I have it pretty easy. Distraction I would think would be the best way to get them to sit still, have 2 people and one distract while the other one clips:)

I just got the fingers figured out!!! Aidans toe nails are so tiny....I don't even think I could cut them.....I like picking the lint out from between his toes though....he wiggles and laughs.....hehe.
