The dreaded open house - was a HUGE success
luvmykids wrote: I'm not sure if this is good or bad but everyone enjoyed it so much they all said "Everything (meaning all future group gatherings) is here from now on" I think I must be a lazy hostess though, I was so relaxed and had so much fun that after everyone left I realized I couldn't possibly have performed all my hostess duties to the full extent.
And it made me just love the house even more, I've never had a home before that I felt so at home and comfortable in. It was so fun to share that with the people I love most, it made all the stress worth it
And bonus, a friend who is moving to NY brought me her wicker outdoor furniture, bbq grill, and a wood splitter which should do a great job of breaking ice, no more jumping up and down on it!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Glad to hear it was a success. Party at Monicas!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: WOO HOO!!!! Glad it went well! I love those kinds of parties when I'm super relaxed. It makes everyone feel so much more at ease in your home. I bet that's why they had such a great time! I'm sure you were an excellent hostess!
redchief replied: You're a natural. I knew when I read that you were unsure of yourself that everything would be fine. I didn't want to say so though because I didn't want to jinx you.
luvmykids replied: Thanks guys, I love to host but never feel like I pull it off the way I want to....they had such a good time that although it was supposed to be a Thanksgiving/Christmas combo they were all asking when to come back for the Christmas party
And Aimee, you are probably the ultimate hostess so I'll be asking you for tips next time
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Who me??
I must have given you the wrong impression somewhere along the way when we were getting to know each other. I'm no Martha Stewart.
I do love to host parties, but I'm not so sure I'm good at it. I tend to stress too much.
redchief replied: I'm a great host. It normally goes something like this:
"Yeah, hi. Just throw the laundry and boxes on the floor over there. Yeah, there's a sofa underneath. TV too loud? You don't like Cops, you can put on anything you want so long as it's not CNN. You hungry? If it doesn't eat you first you're welcome to it, but I'd stay away from anything green."
luvmykids replied: I may try that next time. Who cares that I dusted under the couch, put scented drawer liners in the bathroom cabinets, spent hours downloading everyones favorite Christmas songs, carefully crafted floral arrangements for every room in the house, and saved the baking for the morning of just so the house would smell like fresh pie? I like your approach much better
redchief replied: Did you acquire licenses for all of the downloaded Christmas music? Of course you did!

sparkys2boys replied: Oh i'm sp glad that it all went well for you. Isn't it nice to relax and enjoy the guests insted of running around. I tried to do this my-self last weekend at my party.. but..lol.. I ran around for the most part!!!
CantWait replied: Sounds like everyone had a great time which initself makes you a great hostess. Job well done.
Calimama replied: Glad it went well!
Kaitlin'smom replied: sounds wonderful
to bad about the jumping up and down on the ice, I can just picture it and it sounds like a true joy just kidding does sound quite funny
I also tend to stress at parties I am hosting as well and worried something is not up to par. (hence the reason my bedroom is a HUGE mess)
