I dont know why but i am. i think it sounds to gurlie.. what do u think? thanks !! mad.gif sad.gif

mckayleesmom replied: The first time I ever heard the name..it was on a guy...McKenzie Austin...he played in IRON WILL and is the brother of actor Sean Austin.

coasterqueen replied: I've heard guys and girls with that name.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I believe it... there are a lot of names that seem like they could only be girls names to me, but people use them for boys too. rolleyes.gif

I don't think it's a very common boy's name though, so if you wanted to name a girl that I don't think I would worry about it! happy.gif

mckayleesmom replied: BTW...My sisters name is COURTNEY and I see it on guys every now and then and it seems wierd to me...but I think it was origionally a boys name.

coasterqueen replied: I agree with Sara. My DH's name is Ryan and that's becoming a popular name for girls. rolleyes.gif

You could go with it and be just fine wink.gif.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: I like names like that...I have concidered nameing another girl Dylan...I like the way it sound for a girl-different! blush.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: I have a friend who had a little girl and named her Ryan Dally ( Abbie as in rope)
And I have a friend who named there little girl Randi

I like MacKenzie both ways boys and girls..

Tanner has a girl Tanner in the same grade..lol

punkeemunkee'smom replied:

Poor little baby buckle bunny!!! LOL! We know a kid named Roan like a horse!

Our Lil' Family replied: I saw a guy somewhere and his nametag said Ashley.....reminded me of Gone with the Wind...I didn't realize people would actually name their son Ashley.

PrairieMom replied: I always liked the name Tracy for a guy but never thought I would be brave enough to use it. Then I married a guy whose fathers name was Tracy, and was forced by family tradition to use it for my son, Benjamin Tracy. aka "The Boy" wink.gif

sweetiez replied: Thats very interesting.. thank you all for the comments smile.gifsmile.gif I feel a lil better now lol tongue.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Well for one I don't think it was necessary for you to put "important” in the title I can see why you would be bothered by it BUT if you put something like that in your title and then its not life and death or on a time limit or something then you should be careful because it will make people weary of your posts and the will question whether it is truly important or not. I think Mackenzie is a great name I wouldn't even name a boy that but that is just my opinion. BTW do you know if you’re having a girl or boy yet? They usually can't tell on a u/s until like 16-18wks

I hope that didn't sound mean or anything because that wasn't my intentions!!

kit_kats_mom replied:
That's my middle name.

My name is spelled like the males (Cary) and my best friend was going to name her DD Bryce (we have a DS named Brice on this board). She ended up not doing it cause the name didn't flow with her last name.

I've met a guy named Mackinzie. We called him Mac

My3LilMonkeys replied: I have heard of it as both a guy and a girl's name. I prefer it for girls though.

I went to school with a guy named Stacy - I didn't really care for that as a guy's name either but it was very popular a long time ago.

ilovemybaby replied: It is a unisex name. But I think it sounds fine for a girl or a boy. If you really love it you should use it anyway.

MACKENZIE
Gender: Masculine & Feminine

Pronounced: ma-KEN-zee [key]

From the Gaelic surname Mac Coinnich, which means "son of Coinneach". Coinneach is an Irish name meaning "handsome". A famous bearer of the surname was William Lyon MacKenzie, a Canadian journalist and political rebel.

TeagansMom609 replied: It reminds me of Spudz Mackenzie. That dog from back in the day. happy.gif

Debra replied: Brianne, McKensie Astin is where I first heard it as well. I had such a crush on him when he was on The Facts of Life (I think it was).

Karen, I think I've actually know more female Ryan's than males. When I was in intermediate school, one of the teachers had 3 daughters one right after the other. Their names are Ryan, Randy & Reagan. I always thought they were so cool!

Abbie, DH went to school with a female Dylan. Actually hers was spelled Dilyn but pronounced the same.

Naomi, there was a singer in the group O'Town named Ashley Angel. My little sister used to be so in love with him! He was a cutie!

alyssa'smommy (sorry I don't know your name blush.gif), I agree with you on the "important" thing in the title! And I don't think you were mean at all! wink.gif

brookeandmadisonsmom (I'm sorry I don't know your name either blush.gif), I have a male friend named Stacy. And DH also grew up with a Stacy.

Kelly, I saw a Spuds McKenise poster the other day. I swear this thing can't be new. It must have been hanging there since the 80's/early 90's!

I think I responded to just about everyone on this thread! emlaugh.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: I new a guy named Kelly, so I don't know what to tell ya. Most names these days can go both ways it seems.

CantWait replied: I've heard a guy named it before. I think it's the norm now that a lot of names aren't gender specific. I even think it's kinda sexy...lol most guys with "girls" names happen to be good looking. Ok call me wired now rolling_smile.gif

redchief replied: Heheh... See, MacKenzie (and all variations of same) isn't a first name at all. We silly Americans made it so. It's a last name. It's Gaelic or Celtic (depending on spelling), and it means "Son of Kenneth," which would make it a boy's name if it were accepted worldwide as a first name (which it isn't; the Irish fairly bristle when we Americanize their old country names into first names).

danahas4monkeys replied: well my son's middle name is mackenzie so no i dont think it has to be just a girl name!
his first name is Jordan which can also go either way and for that matter my name was once considered a boy name but now can be either or!

3xsthefun replied: I don't think it is to unusal. My brother went to school with a guy named Mackenzie.

My dad and husband works with a guy named Stacy. When they first said Stacy I thought they was talking about some woman.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Well my mom's name is Billie Louis. I know a lot of people that have names that can be used for both sexes. I have an uncle Terry, and Aunt Terri, and a SIL Tari. blink.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: so many names these days are unisex, so are a bit odd to me but I personally think its better than naming your child a food product ohmy.gif ie Apple or CoCo wacko.gif

coasterqueen replied: This reminds me of a time DH and I were shopping w/the girls several months ago and a lady was admiring Megan. I was admiring her little baby as well. I heard her talking to her baby, it was a boy. I asked her what his name was...she said Ashlyn. NO JOKE! Dh looked at me and said "thank goodness we didn't name Megan Ashlyn". tongue.gif So it just goes to show you people name their children whatever they want, names are definitely becoming more unisex.

My2Beauties replied: I went to school with a guy named Ashley, my mom's name is Terry and we used to live next to a guy named Terry, spelled the same way! tongue.gif I would think Mackinzie is more of a girls name but it doesn't surprise me - names are becoming more unisex - hope I don't run into any guys named LeaAnn or Hanna though! laugh.gif
