The neighbors dog - has got to go!!!!!!!!

Farelle wrote: Ok...so the other night I am awaken at 3:00 am by my neighbors (they live diagonally behind us) STUPID dog barking!!!!!!! He has the most annoying bark too... woof woof woof - pause - woof woof woof - pause. He'll go on for hours too!! I contemplated calling the police, but I was too lazy to go downstairs and get the number so I tried my best to shut it out. I finally fell asleep but was awaken AGAIN at 5:00 and he was still barking!!! growl.gif

Ok so first of all, how are they sleeping through it?!?! And second of all why is the poor dog outside fours hours during the night?? He's a totally annoying dog, but I know it's not his fault that he's being a...dog.

THey have had numerous complaints against them and been fined before. The town even put a sign up at the end of their street warning about dogs pooping on other people's lawns and the fine for not cleaning it up....which is a whole other story!! growl.gif

So, is it wrong to fling the doody back into their yard? Or call the police at 3:00 am? I assume they would knock on their door and wake the up?? That would be GREAT. I don't want to have issues but this is NOT the first time, and I know it will not be the last. The dog is nuisance and they should not have him if they don't want to take careof him.............. growl.gif

Twelve Volt Man replied: I'd defintely fling the poop back into their yard, since that's where it belongs. No doubt, I'm a bit impartial about calling the police over the matter. As a cop, it always drives me nuts when a neighbor doesn't want to take the time to confront another neighbor over a trivial issue, choosing, instead, to tie up the police over it. I can't speak for your city, but in mine, we are busy enough without having to handle barking dog calls. I, by no means, mean to minimize the aggravation you're experiencing by listening to the annoying dog bark all night, but it could be better resolved by contacting the person directly, or contacting animal control the next day. I hope the dog shuts up or, better yet, the owner takes responsibility, so that you and the rest of the neighborhood can get some sleep.

Farelle replied: I agree, I don't want to be bothering the cops either (although in my town they're prob just hanging out at the Dunkin Donuts up the street, watching the traffic light blink - HA!) And I agree about confronting them....but, another neighbor of ours did confront her one day, albeit not in the best way, he asked her as she was jogging by if she was going to clean up the <expletive> in his yard from her dog (who jogs with her, off leash of course) and she gave him the ever popular....FU response. So....she's not one to be reasonable. The dog is quite a nuisance, I wouldn't even be bothered so much if he would just poop on the lawn but this dog really takes the cake when it comes to pooping......it shows up in some very WEIRD places where you really don't want it to be. And they have a fenced in yard, they just don't shut the gate!! growl.gif

So.....I figure flinging it over the fence or leaving a nice and tidy little bag hanging on their mail box might be fun (but hey, since you are a cop....can I get arrested for that?) HA rolling_smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: ooo I hate that!!!! You can actually call the humane society OR the local pound and they can trap him (I hate it when people do that but at the dogs expense it MIGHT be better for him) now thats usually only when you have a leash law and in my town we do (although not follwed usually but it really doesn't bother me). You can always warn her that if you catch him in your yard again that you will take him to the pound (which I would do in a heartbeat especially when they dog isn't being taken care of). Just do what you think is best and not to be a witch but I would call the cops in the middle of the night if after ONE confortation she didn't do something about the middle of the night barking!!

gr33n3y3z replied: fling the poop right back in their yard

Then call the police at 3am I do for the animals around here and these animals have 2 legs LOL

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'd store the crap in an old covered bucket, and once in a while, dump it on her front steps.

Even better would be to get it on it wiht the neighbours, and ya'll have one great big bucket-o-poop.

Also - get in on it with your neighbours, and when the dog starts barking at 3am, all open your windows or whatever, and bark right back.

CantWait replied: FLING IT BACK.

That's what I do here. We have a small patch of land beside our house that's also right next to the trail where everyone walks. It's in our mortgage agreement that this is our responsibility to mow and take care of. The thing is there's always a ton of crap on it (we don't have a dog), so I always take a shovel or a hockey stick and put it on the path. emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif

holley79 replied: We had a neighbor who had a barking dog like that also. I have no clue how they slept through it. Finalyl one O Dark 30 in the morning I got so sick and tired of it I went and knocked on their door. All lights came on and I kindly told them their dog needed to be in the house because it was keeping me up.

As for calling the police, don't know how it is in your area, but we don't respond to barking dog complaints unless the person says, "The neighbors dog just started barking and it's very unlike him to do that." We will check that out but as far as a noise complaint we tell them to call annimal control.

best of luck to you.

Calimama replied: Ugh, we have a HUGE dog next door who tries to jump over the fence and is always barking. Annoying isn't it? I would keep knocking and telling them. wink.gif They have to get sick of you being at the door eventually.

Farelle replied: HA!! I love it! I have "flung" back once or twice. Their yard is close enough to do it. I'm going to try to aim for the pool the next time!! wink.gif

It's just so annoying that people have NO regard for others. She's never once cleaned up after the dog in the 5-6 years that they've had him. And when I say he poops in unusual places.....I do mean, unusual. One time when my son was a baby, I was pulling into the driveway and saw him backing up into my hostas with his bum in the air and he did his business right there, on top of my flowers! growl.gif Had I not had a baby in the car with me, that one would have wound up being "flung" right at their house!!

The problem is that I don't want to get confrontational with them bc I know they're jerks, as evidenced by being fined several times, and having had the dog impounded before, We have to live so close to them, I don't want trouble. So I just wave and smile and say hi and secretly have my FLING parties after sunset!!! rolling_smile.gif

luvbug00 replied: two words

Fling! cops! emlaugh.gif

Kentuckychick replied: I agree, fling the poop and call the cops! That is very disrespectful!!

For a long time we didn't have to worry AT ALL about dogs barking around our neighborhood. We have a neighbor who sued not only the people who live behind us, but also our other neighbors over their dogs. Oh, she didn't win. It's hard to win a battle against someone who lets their dog out for tops 15 minutes a day at 7:00 in the morning (she said it was waking her up) or against someone whose dog literally only barks once in a blue moon. But she sure tried.

Now she has TWO dogs, scrawny little yappy dogs. They are outside ALL.THE.TIME even in horrid weather (we had to go over and get the puppy once when it was storming and she was injured. And they bark all day long. And half the night.

And I just keep telling myself that it's not worth it to sue. But geez oh pete!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I would call them or go knock on their door. you have to be up then so should they. As for calling the cops I wouldn't. I don't know about where you are but here they would tell you to call animal control then animal control would say they don't come out on barking dog calls. If it is an ongoing thing you could also get a sonic bark thing. plug it in in your yard over near the corner and it supposedly will stop the dog from barking. Petsmart will return nay of those things if they don't work too.

ZandersMama replied:

FLING THE POOP! FLING THE POOP! then post pics! tongue.gif

grapfruit replied:
First LoL! ITA w/the above!!! rolling_smile.gif

Where I used to live they said that if you're going to confront your neighbor and think it may not be nice to call them instead. You can even do it anonymously if you like. (then watch out the window like I do) emlaugh.gif

Totally would fling the poo back in the yard. And remind them of the leash law as well. And if I saw the dog out I'd call the Animal Control people to come gather him up!

Farelle replied:

HA HA HA LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! rolling_smile.gif Pics of me flinging....or going to jai!?! HA!!

I have half a mind (that's an understatment) to remove the sign they posted down the street from them warning about the fines associsted with a nuisance dog and sticking it in their FRONT yard!! rolling_smile.gif I bet that would be a surprise the next time she went out for a jog!!!

he he he.....you guys make me want to go out and have a GOOD look around my yard for some ammunition!!!
