TANNER'S MOM wrote: LIKE

Ok I am sooo tired of this word. Everyone uses it and I am sooo tired of it. My teenagers included.

Last night I watched the Bachelor..and I saw a girl sitting in Charlies lap..telling him all about how much she liked him..

You make me feel LIKE no other..LIKE I can't explain it..LIKE you are the best man in the world..

Charlie needed an iamwithstupid.gif

My girls do it too...

Am I the only one who has noticed this??

A&A'smommy replied: blush.gif blush.gif I do it sometimes but i have kinda made myself quite because iy got on my nerves too!! emlaugh.gif

Sunflower04 replied: I don't know anyone that uses that word alot but I can only image how annoying it would be the hear it over and over again. wacko.gif

My2Beauties replied: wavey.gif Check please - Mel I am guilty of using this word too much sometimes *hangs head in embarassment* I try not to convey it in my writing but sometimes it jsut comes out, especially when I'm telling a big long vent or I get really excited about something! rolleyes.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: lol

Jessy Ann and LeaAnn..

Maybe the trouble comes from a telling a teen that you don't like something.

Then they do it and say it over and over....

I promise in 15 years you ladies will join me in the vent....lolololol

Thanks for the laugh!

Mel

Boys r us replied: Hanging head in shame..I do it all of the time and I actually drive myself crazy with it!

Mommy2BAK replied: I do it too. Its a good word to use when you are decribing something. Sometimes I realize just how bad and aften I do it.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I know what you mean, like yesterday I was like watching the Bachelor, too and like he like dumped that girl Sarah W and like she was like crying her head off saying "like" over and over and I just wanted to like go thru the TV and like strangle her little blonde head, like SO BAD! smash.gif

You think that was bad...you should have HEARD HER!!! banghead.gif

I used to say it all the time...Scotty pointed it out and I quit! biggrin.gif

JessC replied: Yeah... I definitly agree its a very annoying word... but its such a BAD HABIT!!! blush.gif

I dont say it that much anymore thank goodness!!

Its very improper english thats for sure!!

kimberley replied: hmm... i thought that word went out with the valley girls, "like, you know" (while chewing gum and twirling hair) rolleyes.gif rolling_smile.gif

it is a filler word.. instead of saying "um" people say "like". if they do both blink.gif they really shouldn' t be speaking! laugh.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: lol

I ignore ppl. who go off on that word tongue.gif

Celestrina replied: As you have read above, you're not the only one. There is a book out regarding the degredation of the english language. Click here and read the title carefully .

3xmommy replied: My neice does this and she's only 10. Every second to third word she says is LIKE. Sometimes I want to duct tape her mouth. She's got that whole Valley Girl thing goin' on, especially when she's playing with Barbies. She even taught my girls that "talk to the hand" thing... so when I tell the girls to not do something... UP comes a little stubby hand in my face! I just tell em move it or lose a few digits! wink.gif

Know how ya feel though. I used to say it when I was younger, all the time. Now if I can't remember what I was saying next, I just stand there and stammer like a baboon. wacko.gif

Celestrina replied:
OMG! I'm not sure how I would react if my kid did that.

jem0622 replied: There was a local radio station here who made absolute fun of her for using that word and even counted the number of times that she said it.

I say it sometimes. Totally guilty. But I try to make a concious effort not to use it.
