There's an Outbreak at the Hospital
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: And now I feel like we are in lock down! We (the parents) are not allowed to use the kitchen anymore. If we want anything we have to ask a nurse or a housekeeping staff for it. We are not allowed to grab linen or pj's for our children anymore, if we need these items we have to ask a nurse or one of the housekeeping staff. The 6th floor is only allowing immediate family and there are now 3 cases of RSV on this unit. 8A the unit next to us, started to not allow parents into the kitchen earlier this week. If it continues, you can bet it will be like the whole SARS thing and only parents, patients and staff will only be allowed into the hospital. I better make sure I keep my parent ID badge with me at all times. They are not saying what the outbreak is, but people are saying that it is some kind of flu.
amynicole21 replied: Oh man. That is scary!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Yeah if this outbreak reaches the 8th floor or the CCU or NICU then it could be devastating. These are the places in the hospital where the children are most vulnerable. The 8th floor is mainly cancer/bone marrow transplant patients.
holley79 replied: Oh that's horrible Kirsten. I can't even imagine.
Calimama replied: How awful. I hope it doesn't spread.
CantWait replied: Oh gosh Kirsten, I hope it's nothing serious and stays away from Spencer.
sparkys2boys replied: Like you needed another stress right now. Hope you guys can avoid this. KUP on the issue.
redplaydoh replied: Don't look at is as being locked down, look at it as they are trying to do everything possible to ensure the kiddos stay well. I know that has to be hard to deal with on top of everything else in an already stressful situation.
BAC'sMom replied: How awful keep us posted Kirsten
~Roo'sMama~ replied: That's awful! I hope it doesn't spread and stays away from Spencer!
MoonMama replied: OH NO! Sending lots of thoughts and prayers. I hope it doesn't spread.
jcc64 replied: I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!
redchief replied: I'm glad the bug was identified before it reached the most vulnerable. I hope the inconvenience is short-lived, but I certainly understand why they've tightened security. I'm still praying.
