Think I'm nuts - Read this post

Tuesday night I put Annika to bed in her crib. Lights out, CD off and monitor on. Well I went and laid down in my bed to read my book and hopefully go . Well I was laying there and I started hearing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". I was like I glanced at the monitor but the LEDs weren't moving like there was noise. I got up and went to Annika's room thinking maybe something in her crib makes noises I didn't know about. (She has a lullabye bear.) Well when I walked into the room I didn't hear anything. I walked back out of the room and went back to my room. Chalked it up as just hearing things. I decided to go downstairs and make me a cup of hot tea. Mind you I left the monitor upstairs. I could have swore that I heard her crying. I started up stairs and when I got to her room she was sound asleep.
Well I drank my hot tea and then went back upstairs. I had the toughest time falling asleep because all I could think about was what I kept hearing. I swear I was losing my mind. DH swears he has heard her crying also and she be sound asleep. Talk about weird.
Well now you can all call the nut hut for me.
Nina J replied: Lol, things like that happen to me sometimes. I swear I can hear DH calling my name all the time, but when I go see what he wants he says he didn't say anything.
We can go to the "nut hut" together
ilovemybaby replied: I have heard other moms say this before. It could be that someone very close to you has a baby as well and has a monitor. They could be interfering with each other.
Momof3inMe replied: This has happened to me before! I thought I was crazy! Then one day I was talking to a neighbor and she said I could hear Tyler crying last night at my house and I said that funny b/c I can hear your son at my house!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: We have had this problem with both baby monitors and cordless phones. With my old phone if I stood in my front bathroom I could hear the neighbor on the right's phone conversations, in my bedroom the neighbor on the left. I got some good gossip that way.
PrairieMom replied: When The Boy was an infant there were 5 other families in the neighborhood all with babies the same age. We were always picking up each others signals. Not only do you get some really intersting gossip that way, but you have to be really careful what you say! I have a hard time remembering to turn the monitor off when I'm not using it! Makes you wonder what the neighbors have hear comming out my mouth!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Had them in speed dial anyways for me, & the call has been placed. We will come to visit!!
As they said above, it could be interference, so you may try switching to a different channel on the monitor. 900mHz monitors (most out now) minimize but will not completly eliminate interference. Unless you spent the to buy the Fischer Price Direct Link Privacy Monitor, then that would be freaky since it has a scrambling system to prevent interference, or Annika is not being heard elsewhere. If that is the case, the nice men in white coats are on the way....
EvesMom replied: I think my monitor will pick up other monitors. I'm be sitting next to the monitoe, with Evelynn in my lap, and I'll hear crying from it. There are a lot of babies in my neighborhood, so I guess it's possible. I switched the frequency and I haven't had the problem so much.
holley79 replied: Well unfortunately for me none of the other neighbors have small children and use monitors. The only small child is a 5 year old and Shawn asked them yesterday if they had a baby monitor. The neighbors to the left of me have all teenagers and everyone else is a senior citizen. Well expect for the person way up the hill.
I was given a brand new one at my baby shower from my aunt. She said she bought it just in case i wanted to talk bad about people. LOL Needless to say I am losing my freaking mind. Yes you can all come visit me.
I wish I could explain it away but it's just not happening. It's driving me crazy. I guess I will see how it goes Friday night. I have WFCC on speed dial for our Baker Acts at work. I guess maybe I need to check into it. LOL
C&K*s Mommie replied: Well you can probably associate it to all the hard, long hours you have been working.
KingMom replied: BTDT! When Colin was younger I'd swear I hear him crying, but it wouldn't come from the monitor. I've even looked at my husband in bed and he was looking at me and we both thought we'd heard him!
It's crazy what your mind can do when you are so tired!
CosmetologyMommy replied: I hear things all the time on our cordless phone...
Kaitlin'smom replied: I dont know about other babys in the neighborhood, I dont know of any on my street but I know I used to hear things that I swore was Kait, or music when nothing was on. So your not alone.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: I do that ALL THE TIME! I will think I hear her say something or call for me and I will hear music-usually something I have heard during the day and was singing along to In your case Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is probably a safe bet It is OK! We have all lost a little piece of our minds when we gave birth!
C&K*s Mommie replied: so true! You can also blame it on the "mommie-mush brain", that we as mother have.
luvmykids replied: I swear the other day I had water running for the kids bath and would hear someone calling me, like they were outside and I didn't answer the door so they were hollering for me. I'd turn the water off, nothing. Turn it back on, "MONICA!"
A&A'smommy replied: LOL she might have been dreaming so maybe you weren't hearing things.. but lol I have to admit I have had those nights too!!!
My2Beauties replied: Honey we have all BTDT!!!! Believe me, I hear all sorts of things that aren't there
jem0622 replied: You are not nuts. You could have been picking up another household. Happens a lot and that is why I ditched monitors with Gabe and the girls. Just too much interference in our townhouse!
ashtonsmama replied: It's not just you, I think I have a mild form of crazy too...maybe it's picking up someone else's monitor?!?
ilovemybaby replied: Actually I heard a rather interesting conversation between two teenage girls and also between two ladies talking about a custody issue or something on Pauls police scanner! He can sometimes pick up on phone conversations.
We got Abby this duck when she was a baby that is pull-string and sings Rubber Ducky. Well it was tied to the side of her cot. One night I was in bed and all of a sudden I heard "Rubber Ducky you're the one..." and I freaked out. I was like what the? Because it only plays when you pull the string and stops when the string finishes going back in. Eventually I realized there was something wrong with it and it would just start playing any time of the day or night without having the string pulled. I eventually removed it from Abbys room because it would wake her up in the middle of the night
kimberley replied: lack of sleep plays with our brains. the monitor i had with the boys tapped into neighbors behind us. didn't think it ranged that far hope you get some
CantWait replied: Ok I think you've officially lost it. Hope you get some soon.
holley79 replied:
Well I knew that... LOL. I don't know. I am just going to chalk it up as just plain crazy. Then when I do something really crazy I'll just refer the DA's office to this post and really show them that I'm nuts. Reason of Insanity. LOL
