This Sucks!

TheOaf66 wrote: Got out stimulus thing today and we did not get the $1800 package for 2 kids and being married. We only got $900. I can't complain to much but we were kind of counting on the $1800 for our driveway project. bawling.gif

lovemy2 replied: Why did you only get $900? You should have at least had $1200 for being married - something isn't right......I would call a tax professional.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
I seriously know nothing on this subject but does it matter that you are married and filing seperately? I know we did that for a number of years.

coasterqueen replied: That is weird. Did you not file married? hug.gif hug.gif

We got ours today and it was right. blush.gif

lovemy2 replied:
No - you would each still get $600 and whoever claims the kids would get $300 for EACH child.

luvmykids replied: Did you owe on your return? If you did and hadn't paid, they'd deduct it but 900 is an awfully even number for that to be the case...sounds like one of you got 600 + 300 for one kid, maybe the other of you will get the same in another day or two? It's definitely worth finding out.

TheOaf66 replied:
nope we got refund and yes I think it seems odd too

Crystalina replied: The same thing happend to us! DH thought we were getting the $1800 and we only got $1200. He was bummed but it's all going to bills and savings so it doesn't really matter. We don't have any real plans for the extra.

Even Better, Jennie was looking through our taxes for this past year and the accoutant forgot to add Aiden to the dependents!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have any tax knowledge and know how this can be fixed?

PrairieMom replied:
You can file an ammendment to your return, Your accountant should know how, and I would think they would do it for free, since they screwed up.

TheOaf66 replied:
I sure hope so cuz I am not happy at all

luvmykids replied:
Well, that explains $300 you didn't get dry.gif

Calimama replied: I hope you get everything fixed!!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I'm just curious - for those of you who didn't get the amounts you were expecting - did you actually use the calculator on the IRS website to figure your amount out, or were you just going with the numbers that are generally given in the news? I used the calculator to figure our amount out and now I'm wondering if we're really going to get that amount or not. unsure.gif

A&A'smommy replied: YIKES thats nuts, I would be ticked!!!

moped replied: I have no idea what that money is but it sure does suck that you don't get any!

We get ZILTCH for anything..........We pay them large sums of money!

Momof3inMe replied: Ours was 600.00 less then I thought. I thought we would get the 1200 for being married and filing jointly, but I guess b/c I didn't work last year We didnt get the 600.00 for me. I didnt use the calculator I was just going but that they were saying. I also never heard that if one of you didnt work but you filed joint then you wouldn' t get the 1200.

Cece00 replied: You can go on the IRS website & it has a thing called "Where's my stimuls check" or something like that...you put in the main persons SSN, and number of exemptions and it tells you how much, and when you will get it.

We got $2100 via DD on the 9th, which is exactly what the site told us would happen.

Calimama replied:
I didn't work last year and we got the $1500.

lovemy2 replied:
Amend your return - you will be owed more on your refund for 2007 and you should also then be able to collect the rest of the money - BUT - getting the rest of the stimulus money could take some time......G

lovemy2 replied:
You had NO earned income last year? It was all based on earned income - you had to make $3000 or more in order to qualify - and if your MFJ income was over a certain amount - I believe it was $150,000 it bgean to phase out what you got.....

boyohboyohboy replied: we got $2100, and i dont work...we got $300 per kid and then we got what the site said for each spouse..

Momof3inMe replied:
No I didnt work at all, but I dont understand why other people who didnt work got the 1200. We didnt make over 150,00. I think I might call them on Monday and see whats up. We did file MFJ.

amymom replied: It is based on how much your tax liability was (line 35 on 1040A). If that number is zero or less than 600 (individual 1200 joint) than your rebate will be that number minimum of 300 (or 600 joint). If your tax liability is over 600 than you will get $600.
Then you get $300 per child. I thought we would get $1800, but now looking at the IRS website... we will only get $1200. Since our tax liability was less than $600. (boy we are poor)

biggrin.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Stacy...do you file seperately....because we were only paid $600 for the two of us, then the $300 per dependant. We file jointly. I am going to call the IRS on Monday because I do believe we were screwed out of $600.

We got our tax stuff straightened out...our tax accountant got us an amendment and will be sent out first thing Monday morning...but the missing $600 from our stimulus that we can't figure out is really ticking me off. dry.gif

boyohboyohboy replied:
no I dont file at all. I dont have any income to claim...and dh claims me.

redchief replied: We got $900.00 as well.

We're married filing jointly, both had incomes in 2007, I claimed 3, including one college student, we received a refund and had our taxes filed and accepted on time. I didn't use the IRS calculator.

boyohboyohboy replied: did you guys get your stimulis problem figured out?

Boo&BugsMom replied:
No. dry.gif We got our tax issue figured out...our tax accountant filed an ammendment, but that still leaves us out $600 that we SHOULD have gotten from our stimulus money.

amymom replied:
Look at the numbers a bit closer. You may have only been supposed to get $1200, 300 for each of you and $300 for the kids. It is based on tax liability not refund or payment. If your liability was less than $600 than you don't get $600 per adult. You only get $300 or your liability up to $600. Alot of people are expecting the $1800 when they have 2 kids and then are disappointed when they get less.

coasterqueen replied: You may have gotten a letter from the IRS by now, but it explains why you got what you got. We got one last night.

My2Beauties replied: We got our letter, it's based on your tax liability, not your refund or what you claimed. I know a couple who is married only getting $600 for both of them and they both worked but they paid in less taxes because they made less money. We got $1800 but we paid tons of money in this year, it's based on that. The less you make the lower your stimulus payment basically because of what you paid in to the government. You are def owed $300 for Aiden though.

Crystalina replied:
I don't work and we got the $1200. DH made about $96,000. I'm not sure quite how they figured who got what. dunno.gif
