A&A'smommy replied: THey should have listened to that mother... I blame the officers for going gun crazy!! mad.gif And that man if he was depressed well really couldn't they have done something else to save that baby!!

redchief replied: Sad for the family and the police officers who had to go home to their own families after that. sad.gif

My2Beauties replied: While I know that it's instinct to shoot at someone if they are shooting at you I don't think the officers showed enough restraint in this case. THey should have ducked and ran for cover, why shoot at a man using his baby as a shield. I can't vouch for the police on this one! I think they should be charged in this case. Just my two cents, but I know that many people would probably have a different opinion! bawling.gif It's just sad that a baby had to die in order to bring a man into custody. I would have thought they would have had a sharp shooter on him from behind and shot him in the back or maybe had someone tackle him from behind or something other than just blatantly firing shots like that.

redchief replied:
I wasn't vouching for or condoning anything. I wasn't there so I don't know what transpired or how it all unfolded. I was just commenting on how difficult the consequences of it are.

MissyKay2005 replied: Sad is all I can say.

A&A'smommy replied: Ed it is sad that they have to go home to their families after that.. VERY sad... I can't amagine...

LeaAnn I thought the SAME thing but didn't say it... I don't think they were very organized, they were probably scared since there was a baby invovled.

redchief replied: From what I've read they fired because the shooter was shooting at another innocent bystander who was trying to get to safety. Even if that's not the case, there will be many, many people who will have to live with the consequences of this tragic event.

ions_momma replied: Thats so sad bawling.gif

My2Beauties replied:
Oh I know I wasn't saying that you were condoning what they done at all and I feel for the police officers as well, because like I said your first instinct is to shoot back! No I wasn't referring to you or anyone in particular I just know that some people may vouch for the police in this case, maybe not people on this board but some people will I'm sure.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: bawling.gif What a horrible incident but I think that the one at fault here is the father of this child who, instead of PROTECTING his daughter, chose to put her in a situation, that he caused, and that ultimately ended both of their lives! The police had been trying to talk to him but he fired on them! L.A. is one of the most dangerous places in the country to be a police officer. What if one of our family members had been that innocent neighbor the police were trying to remove from the area? Although I tend to think "Why couldn't they have gotten a sharp shooter to take him down?" I wasn't there and so I don't know but I think that to say they did not use enough restraint is placeing the blame on the WRONG people...if this man had not placed his daughter in that situation this would never have happened! sad.gif Prayers to her mother and to the police men and women who have to go on living with this memory!

Insanemomof3 replied: That is HORRIBLE. How can someone use thier own child as a sheild? mad.gif

MommyToAshley replied: bawling.gif I will never understand this kind of insanity. As a parent, I would throw myself in front of a bullet to protect my child (not the other way around).

I feel sorry for everyone involved. bawling.gif What a tragedy! bawling.gif

3xsthefun replied: That is so sad sad.gif I just don't understand how that man could use his own child as a shield. If it is anyone to blame it would be the father. I don't care how depressed you are that is still no excuse for what he did, that ended both of their lives.

I really feel bad for the mother of the baby, and the police that will have to live with that memory.

TLCDad replied: The sole person to blame is the father. He chose to drink and do drugs and then put his own daughter up as a shield?!?!?! But, with that said, I can not understand why there was no sharp shooter who could of taken him out without hitting the child. The article mentions that SWAT was invovled???? Are you telling me theres no one on that swat team who could of taken this man out with one shot? 300 shots, if true, is a bit excessive. This was a hostage situation and should of been treated as such.

The mother and family will be in my prayers. Prayers also for the officer(s) and their family(s).

mummy2girls replied: God! Thses stories break my heart...I blame to dad!!!! using the child as a sheild. All i hope right now is that the baby died instantly and didnt feel much or any pain... God im going to have nightmares now:(

kayla's mama replied: That is just so sad bawling.gif and it made me sick to my tummy thinking that a parent would use their baby as a sheild.
