Those with girls in uniforms

mckayleesmom wrote: I am going to start McKaylee out in one of those uniform dress jumpers...Would you do tights with Mary Jane type shoes or ruffled socks with mary jane type shoes?

Honestly...we usually only do summer dress's with flip flops or sandals.

kit_kats_mom replied: I love the look of tights with mary janes and I have a few for K. However, since it's Florida, I'll probably leave her in knee socks until it gets cooler.

mckayleesmom replied:
I found some really cute knee high's at the dollar tree a while back. I bought a bunch, but they are more thick for winter....Where do you find the regular ones Cary?

jem0622 replied: When I was in private school, I had to wear a jumper for 5 yrs. I wore slim socks that I could fold over (no ruffles) and either saddle shoes or a grey shoe (matched the main color of the jumper). On gym days, I wore shorts underneath so I did not give anyone a show! LOL.

Brias3 replied: We do both, depending on the weather! Usually in the winter, it gets so cold we even need to switch to leggings.

Aliyah also has knee highs, which I think look adorable, but she refuses to wear them most of the time cause she thinks they're "itchy". We'll try again this year rolleyes.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: I got mine at Target but I know most large department stores have them too. Try Pennys

MommyToAshley replied: You may want to check the uniform policy. Ashley got a citation last year because her socks had ruffles on them... they were to be plain white. Yeah, her school is pretty strict on the uniform policy. They are only permitted to wear certain types of shoes too (you may want to check that out as well), and on gym days they have to wear tennis shoes. With that said... in the winter she wore tights and all the other times she wore the fold down anklet socks.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia has never worn tights~school or no school. we just do socks and close toed shoes here! In the winter, she wears leg warmers over her legs as she doesn't like pants, either.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Wow! I think I'd hate a dress code that is THAT strict. The only time it gets mentioned in our school is if wear pants (girls) on Wednesdays because they attend Mass that day. I'm all for uniformity but that seems very over the top!

MommyToAshley replied:
Yes, it's a bit crazy. But, the school as a whole is not over-restrictive like I've seen some private schools. One private school I checked into, the kids marched down the hall like little soldiers, and I didn't see one smile on their faces. When I checked out Ashley's school... the kids would come up and hug the principal as she was showing us around the school and the kids had smiles. There are times when they expect the kids to act orderly, but it's not over restrictive. I guess if they are going to go overboard in one area, I don't mind it being the uniform policy... I love her school overall, so I put up with the uniform policy.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
I have to admit, the whole ciatation thing did have me thinking straight lines and no smiling! laugh.gif I know you'd never send her to a place like that, though!! Here, they really aren't that rigid. I'm not sure if it's just more laid back because that's how everything is here or if it's the socioeconomics of the area. Most people in our school (and community) are not wealthy and being so strict would likely be a hardship.

Not to steal the thread (sorry Brianne blush.gif ), but did I read somewhere that Ashley will have to leave her school when you move? If I misread, I apologize. I've been at the lake for a week so I've been playing catch up quickly this AM!!

mckayleesmom replied:
No problemo....You were thinking the same thing I was...That is a little strict. Mckaylee's school is pretty laxed. We can buy their clothes anywhere. Just have to be plain colored shirts, no sandals or open toes and blue or khaki colored pants.
