Those with stainless steel appliances - Love em or hate em?

luvmykids wrote: I have to start shopping for a fridge and the kitchen in the new house has cobalt blue countertops and I'm really thinking the stainless will look best BUT I have heard they're a nightmare with fingerprints plus you can't use magnets. Any opinions?

coasterqueen replied: I don't have them but my friends do. They hate them for the reason you can't use magnets. My GF says she'd like them to have the magnet so they can put stuff on there, i.e. kids drawings, etc. Otherwise I don't think they have any other problems with them.

msoulz replied: THe good thing about no magnets is no mess - I always overdid stuff stuck to the frige. I don't think the fingerprints are a big deal. Overall I really like them!!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I had them and loved them. And I think you can now get ones that don't show fingerprints.

mom2my2cuties replied: My whole kitchen is stainless steel and I LOVE it...but hate the constant cleaning to make sure it looks nice and without fingerprints.

jcc64 replied: It's hard to keep up with the fingerprints. And I do miss the magnet thing. I like the way they look, but the aesthetics come at a price.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: We had them in our old kitchen and I loved them. You just buy the stainless steel cleaner and it removes the fingerprints. You got to think of it this way...the fingerprints are going to be on the white or black fridges too, you just don't see it. I would much rather see it and get it off! Ick! Anyhow, my DH hates the mess of all the pictures I have on our current fridge, so he loved the fact you couldn't use magnets on our old one.

3_call_me_mama replied: We have them and love them. The sides hold magnets and there are actually some that youcan put magnets on the front of. (according to the people at sears) It's made of a different alloy. As far as cleaning it we use stainless cleaner and it wipes up really nice. We are in teh processof getting a new dishwasher in stainless to match teh rest or our stuff

mom2my2cuties replied: Ours you can use a very few kind of magnets with - but not most.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: My dishwasher has a s.s. front. I LOVE the look...and any new appliances we get will definitely be s.s. I have an art wall for pictures and stuff like that...so they don't go on the fridge anyways. tongue.gif

Boys r us replied: We have all stainless appliances and I LOVE THEM!
Can't use magnets, but I prefer not to have the junk covering the fridge anyhow. Also we have the type that doesn't show fingerprints...or rather shows LESS fingerprints..however the salesman showed me a trick, spray WD-40 on it and it keeps it clean!

Brias3 replied: I have all stainless steel appliances as well. I've never heard of the no magnet rule. Magnets work fine on mine, at least the magnetic LeapFrog fridge magnets that Mason has. I typically don't hang anything else on my fridge anyway so maybe only certain types do. Anyhow, I do notice quite a bit of fingerprinting, at least they're really noticeable, but I almost daily use a stainless steel cleaner and it comes off real easy. It's no bigger a problem than wiping off anything else. I like the look of it most of all, especially with our kitchen scheme.
