Thoughts on Jacks Birthday - Luau?

luvmykids replied: I think a luau sounds so fun I have never ordered from oriental trading but it always looks fun....I personally like to do friends and family separate but we don't do anything huge for family.

Boys r us replied: I think that sounds great..and at his age I think family and friends together is fine. As they get older, it gets harder to incorporate the two at the same party!

Bamamom replied: I actually just had a luau party and ordered almost all my stuff from oriental trader. I was pleased but be aware that it is disposable party stuff so don't expect terribly high quality - remember that you get what you pay for!

The hit of my party was the centerpeice - I got a tall vase with a wide mouth and put live goldfish in it. Then I put some of the floating orchid candles on top. Maybe too much for a kids birthday party but it was really pretty. FYI - the fish died within a few days. I think they ate some of the wax.

I think Luau's are nuetral gender....should be fun. Maybe you can throw a couple pirate type things in there if you feel its too girly.

moped replied: Well I placed an order from them and am ashamed at what I spent, but I got the palm tree inflatable cooler, the limbo kit, the big yard PARTY signage and other cool things..........

Then I went to childrens place and got Jack a hawaiian button down shirt to wear and I will TRY to make up some invites that are fun - anyone good at the stuff?

luvmykids replied: I don't know how many invites you'd have to do, but I saw CUTE rubber stamps, they had flip flops and the alphabet letters that looked like sticks. It'd be easy to do if you like that kind of thing and don't need 100

Oh and the inflatable cooler is nice. I bought a beach ball one last year, similar to the palm tree one. They work great. I ordered a ton of luau stuff off there, too. Maybe I should have waited and I could have bought some of your stuff off you.

Oh I think it would look great - the beach balls. For Kylie's 5th birthday last year we did a pool party and I filled the pool with tons of little and big beach balls. The kids loved it and it looked really cool (before they got in ).
