Time for another baby/child update
MommyToAshley wrote: Ok, let's hear what your munchkins have been up to lately!
As for Ashley, this week she has:
-- Added the following words to her vocabulary: up, down, grass (although sometimes it sounds like a bad word), and she says yes instead of ya now.
-- She can now climb on and off her little mermaid car and the rocking horse without any help
-- She will answer yes and no questions by shaking her head and either saying yes or no. My favorite is when we ask her if she loves Mommy or of if she loves Daddy and she shakes her head yes! My least favorite is when we ask her if she is ready for a nap and she shakes her head no and says "no"
-- She's added belly button and buns to the list of body parts she can point out now. She tries to say belly button.... it's so cute. (I still love to hear her try to say elbow...it comes out elbob) And, she thinks it is fun to stick her finger in her belly button. She can now point out her ears, eyes, head, hair, nose, mouth, tongue, arm, hand, fingers, elbow, leg, foot, toes, knee, belly, bellybutton, and buns. LOL
-- She is getting better at picking up her toys now too. When I tell her it is time to pick up her toys, she will put most of them away before she starts to pull them out again. (She used to put one away and then get distracted and start pulling them out and playing again.. )
I think that is all that is new for this week, but I am probably missing something. I am just amazed at how much she learns every day.
Can't wait to hear what your precious ones are up to!
Schnoogly replied: He ate food! He ate food!!!!! Yesterday and today, starting with lunch yesterday he ate most of a whole tub of gerber banana-berry, then finished it off for dinner!!
And today he ate fruit for breakfast and lunch and almost a whole jar of corn for dinner!! He OPENED his mouth!! I can't believe it. I am so happy. No gagging. Don't know what changed but I don't want to jinx it!
Other things seem inconsequential--he knows "open" and "close" (for books and doors), new words "tay" for table, up, caaa (for car I think?) can wave hello, can stand on his own for brief periods, walks all around with the walking toy.
And he points at my boob now when he wants to nurse. Pulls my shirt up or down and shoves his finger into my boob. Ha ha
MommyToAshley replied: That's great, I am sooo glad he is eating better for you now! WTG Iain! Keep it up!!!
kit_kats_mom replied: Oh lets see...
Physically, she is climbing all over. Climbing on the coffee table is her new favorite thing to do, since she's mastered getting up an down from the couches. She is running now too. She loves to hear the leaves crunch under her feet. She's been running up to us and giving us hugs and kisses for awhile now too. That's the best.
Her newest addition to her vocabulary is diaper. Shoes, Hi, Bye Bye, step (which means put me down or pick me up) mama and da-dee, duck, kisses and elmo. She also makes animal sounds when you ask her what the animal says. She know Baaaaa-Baaa, quack quack, & "Raspberry"=horse. Finally, she says "pu-dua" all the time in a chant. I don't know what that means...Buddah??? All I can think of when I hear it is a dirty spanish word so I try to shush her when she starts that chant. Oh yeah, she's started singing too. I catch her saying "lalalala" when she hears Elmo's world.
She finally started stacking blocks. She will bring a book to me and back up into my lap then plop herself down & turn all of the pages. She loves play dough & coloring. She plays the Kazoo, recorder, tamborine and drums and she has the idea of the hokey pokey down. She is definatly turning into a little mimic.
She is eating a little bit better. Still not great but she is getting probably 1/2 cup of food down a day with no problem.
I can see new connections being made all the time. It's just amazing.
mummy2girls replied: Jenna has become more of a big girl lately and a defenite clown.
She loves to play peekaboo. She uses her blanket or shirt she is wearing to cover her eyes when playing it. All we have to say is play peekaboo and she goes crazy. She now uses her hands. My mom taught her how to blow kisses and everytime someone blows her kisses she returns them If we say YEAHHHHHH to her she claps her hands.
the only words she can say is Dad or dada when she sees her dad. She can say UH OH! and referrs to her pooh blanket as her baba.
As for her motor develpoment...she is only rolling, scooting and sitting up. She refuses to even try more things.
She is my boo boo and i love her .
CantWait replied: Hmmmmm tough one. Anthony's newest things are blowing raspberries (it's so cute) and he's started to laugh but never at the same thing. He'll take a binky for me finally, but still won't take a bottle from ANYone. He's trying really hard to sit up, pulling his neck and chest off the floor all the time.
Every week his temperment changes. This beginning of this week, he was acting strange (fussing a lot, really sleepy, etc....) think he might have been teething, but dunno The last couple days he's been great.
He's getting big, 15lbs 4 oz and 25 1/2 inches long.
Kaitlin'smom replied: humm lets see, she crawls all over pulls up on anythig she can, cruses along funiture. Can stand for breif periods reaches for me. Dada taught her to clap, she is getting the hang of it. I tought her to wave bye bye. She has a new toy that is like a walker and she loves it,. except when she runs into something. Loving music, is trying to bouce when holding onto something. Says dada, mama, ya, uh oh, kitty (but not quite clear). Love peek-a-boo. Love getting up on her changing tabel and turning the light off (guess thats my fault for teaching her that long ago). Will eat almost anything espically if you are! Okay I know there are more just can think of them right now...............
oh and I think she might have larned this one from Ashley she is now giving me more hugs buy laying her head on my chest when I am holding her.
DansMom replied: Daniel's walking four to five steps at a time now. He can sign and say "drink" and is starting to get the hang of the sippy cup (just starting). He signs for a lot of words and says quite a few as well. He sometimes gets his signs mixed up, but he seems to enjoy signing and will make up his own hand movements for different things---for example, when he sees a pig he tickles his belly, because of the book in which a pig is named Tickle. Whenever he sees our cat Juniper he points to her and shouts "off!" I think that's hysterical, and it says a lot about our cat. Daniel's eating much better this month, and likes a lot of foods now, thank goodness.
Maya's Mama replied: Maya is blowing raspberries all the time now too. Sometimes with her finger in her mouth. This causes the lovely ring of drool to go further and further down her chest. She is now starting to be choosy about which toy she wants to try and play with. And if I give her another, she'll put it down and reach for the one she wants. No roll overs yet, but she's kicking more than ever, and sort of pushing herself around by the force of her kicks. She isn't taking much baby food. She really only likes fruits that taste like pear or apple--No banana, no veggies. She actually makes faces and spits them right back out again in obvious disgust. She drinks even more milk than ever though, making my at work production up to 9-11 ounces. More verbal every day, experimenting with sounds and mouth/tongue shapes. She also has a real laugh, not just a squeal. Things are achanging. Seems like there's something new every day!!
Schnoogly replied: Oh yeah Iain just started dancing too! He boogies in time to the music on sesame street. It's very cute!! It sounds like they are doing the exact same things--they are only 3 days apart after all!
mummyof2boyz replied:
Oh My! Ya'll have a bunch of little smarty's!
Hayden knows mama and dada. He just started to wave bye bye this week. He is shaking his yes and no know. I think he thinks it is more of a game then it is to let me know if thats what he wants. I am trying to get him off the bottle, but all he does with the sippy cup is lets it roll out of his mouth. He thinks it is funny. He is running all over the place now. Getting tired.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Let me think....
Jade has added Thank you to her list of words as well as Na Na. That is my friend Tonya. She also likes to wake me up in the morning by chanting Daguy Daguy. I think this is Jade's version of pigeon. She has also said hi, okay, yeah, nonnie (mommie), Da Da, Daddy, Doggie, Heidi (which she will say in a sing song voice as if she is actually calling the dog), and Wee (said while spinning around in a circle or sliding down the slide). She points to things if she wants them and gets pretty mad when she's not allowed to.
She's a Monkey. She likes to climb all over everything. One of her favorite things to do is climb on the playground area outside and then slide. She has figured out how to go forward on her mermaid ride car and throw a ball.
On Saturday she started to do her version of the chop. I was doing it for the FSU game and she started to wave her hand in the air. Then on Sunday I did the touchdown signal and she threw her hands in the air and said Ta Ta. Yes we have a little football fan in the making.
Jade will eat for me, but is very picky. She knows how to fork up her food and then bring it to her mouth and when she eats one of her waffles she can tear a piece off with her mouth and then chew. We try to give her new foods as often as possible, but she is very stubborn about it. I was the same way when I was her age and now I will eat practically anything.
I think that's it for now. I can't believe how much she has grown. She becomes more of a person everyday.
Kaitlin'smom replied: ya sounds like it!
So have you started to pre pair for his 1st birthday?
MommyToAshley replied: OMG!!! That is sooo cute!
kit_kats_mom replied: That is AWESOME! K gets it sometimes but by the next game, she's forgotten again. She will hold her garnet and gold colored football, clutched to her chest and say hup, hup, hup, like she's hiking it or something. It's soooo funny.
coasterqueen replied: Well, let's see, what has my child been up to lately .
She has added "pee bo" to her vocabulary, which stands for peek-a-boo. She just now has really gotten the jist of this game and LOVES it. Every cat is Jakey (one of our cats names) and every dog is Pebbles (one of the sitter's dog). In the mall this weekend she was calling any woman she saw "mama" Trying to ignore that one
She is constantly picking up my sister's pic of the picture table and carrying it around the house. Her name is Amanda and Kylie calls her "anna" or something like that. It sounds more like grandma, kinda.
She has become a cult member of ELMO, lol. Everything is ELMO. She calls him "MELMO". Sometimes we don't know whether she is saying MELMO or MAMA.
Just this past weekend she started eating a bit better than before. She went right back to her "normal" pattern of sleep, waking me every 2 hours to nurse I knew that one time last week was just a fluke.
She recognizes the song Wheels on the Bus and LOVES it. She also started clapping when someone sings "If you're happy and you know it...". It's so cute.
She gets down and boogies at every tiny musical note she hears. Commercials, radio, whatever she is dancing to it.
She is getting WAY to good at opening doors. She has become a pro at it, but hasn't figured the outside doors YET, but she has tried numerous times
She really doesn't have a favorite toy, she'll play with anything, toilet paper, kitchen utensils, a wet wipe, anything keeps her satisfied in the toy department.
I think she's teething again.
I think that's about it.
ediep replied: Jason cruises and walks around if he is holding on to something.
He looks in the mirror and says "Hi Jason"
He says mom, dada, jason (JayJay)
He moooooo's like a cow when he sees a book that he has that is about a baby cow
He dances to any music
he hands me books to read to him
he waves, claps, kisses, hugs,
MomToJade&Jordan replied: LOL!!!! I think K would have played that game better then the boys did this weekend. That is really funny. As for an amendment to my first post Jade just started giving kisses yesterday. She puts her mouth to your cheek and goes Mua. It's so cute.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well I was trying to hold out on this post to see if Zach would do anything new.... but it's just the same old, same old... lol so here goes:
Zach says Maman (french Mom), Mummee, Daddee, oui (french yes), non, (french no), yes, no, chien (dog in fench), chat (cat in french), yuk, yummmm, n'a pu (no more in french)
he also started to point to the tv if it's off...he goes to the remotre, and he actually knows that it's the RED button that turns it on. Stinker. Guess he spends too much time on the couch with DH.....
he now also refuses to eat if he can't do it himself. He makes a mess of most of his food, but I'd rather he take 3 bites as opposed to none at all. Thank goodness we no longer have carpet in our dining room....
He also has started picking out his clothes. It's too funny.... if I put something on him, and he wants to change, he'll grab something in the laundry basket (if I've brought it up from the laundry room) and if I don't stop him in time, will take everrything out of it until he finds something he likes, and will bring it to me for me to put it on him.
He tries to put on his own shoes...and like walking around in mine.
He also like putting his "baby" to sleep.... he has this stuffed bunny that he rarely ever plays with....but when he's tired, he'll grab it, climb onto the couch, hold his bunny like a baby, make like a humming bnoise, and pet the "baby" on the back. Then after a little while, he'll lay the "baby" down on the pillow on the couch, and rub its back. Too cute! He gives it kisses, and hugs.... and if we say Where's the baby? He gets that buny....
yesterday, I was "reading" a book to him (it's one of those small cardboard ones with pictures, and the name of it under the picture...no story) and he'd turn a page, and I'd pouint to an image and say what was under it. After like 5 minutes, I asked him where the robot was, and he filpped to the first page and pointed to the robot.
I think he knows the difference of when we say "lance la balle" (throw the ball) and "roule la balle" (roll the ball) because if we say to throw it, he throws it...and if we say roll it, he sits down with his legs wide open and rolls it.
He also knows what "Shhhhhh" means.....because if he's being too loud, I'll say "Shhhhh" and he whispers. It's so funny..... instead of babbling to me from across the room....he comes right up to me and babbles really quietly. Hopefully that will continue!!!!!
He doesn't really say more words.... but he makes his point across in other ways. He brings us a diaper and the box of wipes if he wants his diaper changed before we grab him to change it...
he goes to the fridge and bangs on the door if he wants us to fill his sippy cup with milk, if we haven't noticed when he says "N'a pu!" (no more)
when he's hungry, he tries to climb onto his high chair. Thank goodness it's really sturdy...because he really hangs off of it!
He goes "boing boing boing" when he throws the ball and it bounces....(a big light bouncy ball, the size of a soccer ball)
He says bain (bath) when he wants to take a bath....while trying to remove his clothes.
he "talks" on the phone if he has a chance to grab it
and he gives unsolicited kisses now...
