To all of you that have children in school….

luvbug00 replied: we have the entire week off and If I were religous in any way I'd write the superintendent and compliain about that day being on the schdual. Umm I think the choise is up to you wither you feel this is a day the kids should be home with family or at school where not alot of students = watching movies and doing crafts..

jem0622 replied: My boys are out and so is my nephew. You can choose to keep them home to observe the religious holiday. Other people of various faiths do the same when school systems have school on high holy days and so forth.

mom21kid2dogs replied: It's Spring Break week here so everyone is out today. O will go to Catholic school so it won't be a problem for us. I don't think any public school district in this area has ever had school on Good Friday, though. Some don't even go on Monday after Easter here.

I wouldn't hesitate to pull my daughter out, especially if it was for a religous reason~like attending a Good Friday service, etc. If I didn't hold the holiday as Holy, though, I'm not sure I would otherwise.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Some of mine are going and some aren't. Strange I know.. but the Elementary was out and the High is having testing..so the kids are in and out..but only a half day!

Whether we get out on various days depends on how many snow days we get!

BAC'sMom replied: My sister came over last night and told me about the mess up last night. She said there was a big debate last night at the baseball field. The mother of boys that is on my nephew’s team is the principle of his school. She told my sister that it was a school district mess up and that they only expected 48% of the children to be there today. I started not to even send mine this morning but my DD had an Easter party and I didn’t want to disappoint her. I just called the school and her party doesn’t start till 2:15. Now I don’t know what to do.

Momof3inMe replied: Here in Maine all schools are in today. We start spring break after today.

3xsthefun replied: The kids here are on Spring Break.They have been out since last Friday, and go back on Monday.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm sorry they had to attend school. Maddie didn't have school today. Of course she goes to a private christian school so they would be out anyway, but the public schools are out, too. I'm not sure about the other school districts around here.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Well Kait did not have pre-school today its there spring break, they take one day for it. However my nephews went to school today, I dont know if it was all or 1/2 day.

ions_momma replied: Ion has been on Spring Break all week, so he doesnt have school today. Thats kind of odd that your children have school today. I thought most schools let out for Good Friday.

MamaJAM replied: I'm probably replying too late....but it's really up to you if you want to bring your kids home early. Mistakes happen.....try not to be too upset with the school.

My girls didn't have school today -- but, other years, they have had school on "Good Friday". They attend a Jewish school and have off for the major Jewish holidays (they are off Apr 12-24 for Passover break this year). In years when they do have school on "Good Friday" - the office automatically finds subs or half-day teachers come in all day so the Christian teachers can stay home.

luvmykids replied: I'm really suprised they had school! Around here everything shuts down, even the banks close for 3 hours so people can go to church and then they reopen.

Did you pick them up early?

Brias3 replied: We didn't have school today either- it was the first day of spring break. I noticed many places closed today too- even our bank was closed at noon.

BAC'sMom replied: I decided to go after Brand @ 1:00, he told me he was the 9th kid in his class to leave early. I think there are about 18-20 in his class. DH called about 30 minutes and said he was getting off early too. So I spent the afternoon with the men in my life. I let Ansley stay to go to her party, we all went after her at the regular time.
All and all we had a wonderful afternoon as a family.
