Today stinks!
Twelve Volt Man wrote: Well, actually, today has been fun. It's tomorrow that I dread. After 34 days off of work, spending my time with my wife and new son, I am set to return to work tomorrow. The past month has been fantastic. We've been blessed with a very agreeable son (last night, however, was an exception), so we've been able to get out and enjoy our days together. Just a couple days after he was born, we began taking him out, going to lunch most days, and doing shopping. Today, we wrapped up my little vacation by returning some gifts, and picking up a few things we needed. We finished by meeting a college friend for dinner while she was passing through town. I had a few tasty cold beers, and a most delicious, medium-rare, nicely-marbled steak. Now, I'm home, and find myself sick at the thought of having to go in to work tomorrow night. The only good thing is that I live in the city where I work, so I can stop home periodically to check on my boy (and wife). Ever since I've been off work, I've been evaluating my portfolio. Unfortunately, at 32 years old, I'm not quite in a position to retire and be on permanent vacation!
luvmykids replied: Well I can't think of a better way to memorialize your vacation than a perfect steak
I'm glad you and your family had such a great time (and great amount of time) with each other but I feel your pain at returning to work
Maddie&EthansMom replied: All good things must come to an end. I'm sure you will be missed as well.
How fortunate you are that you were granted such a long paternity leave. My DH took off the day my kids were born and was back to work the next morning....before I ever left the hospital.
msoulz replied: Good luck getting back into the swing of things. Your insightful (or is that comical?)comments will be missed.
How fabulous that your boy started life with mom and dad right with him.
lovemy2 replied: I am sure you will miss him terribly but at the same time - it will be important to your son as he grows to see his father being a productive member of society - not a beer drinking, steak eating lob who lives off the hard work of others
Now of course if you win the lottery and can donate many dollars to charity along the way then that is a good thing for him to see too
I am sure though being a cop you get to retire earlier than the average worker with a nice pension....my husband who got a late start in his law enforecement career will be 60 when he can retire (which is pretty young in my book) - little does he know he will not be a beer drinking, steak eating lob - he will still be working at least part time somewhere
Calimama replied: That stinks! I hope your day back tomorrow goes well!
CantWait replied: Sorry it's coming to an end so soon, but glad you enjoyed your time with your wife and baby. I guess it just means you have your days off to look forward to now.
HuskerMom replied: Glad you had fun on your vacation. Wouldn't an early retirement be nice?
Twelve Volt Man replied: This is my vow... I will always be a beer-drinking, steak-eating dad. I'll just do it responsibly, and never living off the hard work of others... except, maybe, my wife!
lovemy2 replied: Perfectly acceptable in my book!!! Good luck today!
