Toddler OCD??? - Just making sure this is normal. :)
MLynn wrote: Anybody out there have a toddler that is really picky about clean hands, or clothes that are just right? My 17 month old can't handle crumbs on his hands, or if his shirt sleeve is accidentally pushed up. I am assuming that this is normal behavior... I know that OCD doesn't show up in children, but it HAS crossed my mind! I'd love to hear from someone else that experiences this. Thanks!
Mom2Boyz replied: COnner has things that he is very picky about too. He will throw a sceaming fit if his shoe comes untied, or if the buckle on his jacket comes undone. He also doesn't like to get things on his hands or face. If he does, he immediatly wipes it off. I'm assuming it's normal toddler stuff
~Roo'sMama~ replied: When my nephew was that age he couldn't STAND to have dirt on him... he wouldn't take his shoes off in the sand box even, and would freak out when the sand got on his shoes.
Now he's 14 and definitely isn't that way anymore!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I assume that it is normal toddler behaviour too. My girls are picky about many things, both in their own way. Drives me crazy , sometimes... but it is okay.
Celestrina replied: Especially with getting things on their hands, that is completely normal. For the longest time Ben hated touching playdough.
ediep replied: well, my son isn't OCD about hands or dirt but he is obsessed with lights and doors. It drives me nuts!! he wants every light turned on and off he wants to open every door
BAC'sMom replied: I think it is perfectly normal, all OF mine had there little "hang ups"!
IT'S JUST PART OF THEIR PERSONALITY.
MLynn replied: ack! Lights and doors for us too!!! Thanks, everyone. Phew! So nice to know that other mommies are experiencing the same stuff!!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke is the same way, especially with her hands. She won't touch anything "yucky", hates to get her clothes wet, and is VERY particular about her toys. If the red car goes on the left and the green on the right, she gets very upset if you switch them and insists that they be put back.
fashionmumofboys replied: It sounds so much like Alesio. He is very picky his hands and mouth can't be dirty. Doesn't like to see any crumbs on his place mate, his shirt sleeves have to be just the right size not rolled up or short on him. Shoe laces have to be tied and gets upset if they come apart. I to think its their personality and are just plain ol picky.
jcc64 replied: All toddlers have OCD!
MamaJAM replied: My middle DD was like that as a toddler...boy was I happy when she finally outgrew it (she's still a bit like that about some things....though she can take care of most things herself now (she's 9).
My younger son - who is almost 2.5 - is like that too. If his pant-leg gets pushed up the slightest bit - you'd think it was physically hurting him! Also - he needs is hands constantly wiped/etc during meals.
redchief replied: Seems perfectly normal to me. Now if only he would stay that way! You'll probably remember this post the day he brings in a nice juicy bug just for you.
