Took Iain shopping for the first time! - and he was soooo good!
Schnoogly wrote: We have only taken Iain out of the house a couple of times (except for doctors appointments) because we were worried about him getting sick and also he's not very well behaved (smirk). I took him grocery shopping once when he was 2 months old, and we went for ice cream once too. He slept both times. Well they were having a one day sale at Kohl's and I had a $10 coupon so I drove DH to work (we only have one car) and went shopping with him! He was so good! I carried him in his sling and he just looked at everything. Once there was another baby crying and that upset him a little, but he didn't even cry on the way home (he did on the way there though--he hates the car)!!
On the down side though I think he might have reflux--this might explain the irritable behavior and fussing while eating so I'm going to take him to the ped after all. I will feel so bad if it turns out he does and he's been suffering this whole time. It is just so hard to tell why he is always so irritable--I thought it was his heart, but maybe it's his tummy? He shouldn't be in any pain from surgery, but maybe it's his teeth? How can you tell? He has a lot of silent reflux symptoms though (doesn't spit up a lot but screams after eating sometimes, hiccups all the time, is congested, takes two gulps then fusses, and won't eat very much at a time though he eats frequently.)
By the way Iain got a romper, a pair of shorts & pants, and a cute little sunhat to protect him from the desert sun. And I got 2 t-shirts, all for $34.00!! Steph
Roxworld replied: Thats a deal Steph!! LOL. I'm sorry Lain isn't feeling well.....let us know what the Ped says. Sounds like he's slowly getting used to going out though. Hugs to you guys
TLCDad replied: Ashley had reflux the first few months. Our ped put her on Zantac liquid form which seemed to help. I have a mild adult form of refux myself. Its not all the time but it does happen enough to be a bother for me. Makes me wonder if our babies can inherit this from us?
I remember the first time we took Ashley shopping. We were amazed on how good she was. LOL she fell asleep in the mall eating area with all that noise.
So happy Iain is doing so well!
momofajcl replied: WTG Iain! That's a good boy letting mommy shop
Keep us posted about what the dr. says.
dhoppygirl replied: Everyone needs a son who is well behaved while mommy is shopping!! Good job Iain!!
I hope whatever is making him irritable gets better!!! Let us know what the ped says!
supermom replied: WooWoo - this means more shopping, right? Way to go Iain
Yep, keep us posted on the little guy - and give him a hug from me!
MommyToAshley replied: Wooohoo Good Boy Iain!
Sorry he has been irritable, but I know what you mean when you say feel so bad that you can't tell what is wrong. I was like that with Ashley's reflux and with her teething... I even posted a message or two here about how to tell for sure she was teething. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of it.
Oh and looks like you got some good bargains! Good shopping Mom!
ediep replied: Good boy! Jason and I hit Kohls one day sale too! Jason slept while I bought clothes for my upcoming vacation and cute romper for Jason for either memorial day or july 4th. (or both, depending on the weather....its shorts)
jcc64 replied: Did you say you've only been out with Iain 2 times? How is that possible? How old is he? Just curious. Peace, Jeanne
Kaitlin'smom replied: WTG!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Dawn - you changed your avatar!! He is so HANDSOME!!!!!!!! Just want to squeeze his little cheeks!!
we've taken Zach out many many times. We have a mini-mall across from our house (grocery store, DH's bank, dollar store, video rental store, craft store, a bar/restaurant, a couple fast food places - lebanese and italian food, a Subways... pizza place... So we go all the time. Usually on Fridays, we get together with some friends at the bar/restaurant, we all have dinner, and a couple drinks, we bring Zach along, he sits in a highchair. Then my mom will pick him up aroun 9:30, and will go to our house with Zach, then we stay a little hwile longer (Usually until about 10:30) then we go home, chat with my mom for a bit, then she goes home.
He goes with us everywhere - he is a really curious baby, so we've tried tkaing him to a couple movies.... he seems to enjoy them! he just stares at the screen, and laughs when something very action packed happens!
Schnoogly replied: He's 4 months, and it's quite possible. He was born with a congenital heart defect and has had two surgeries, so I didn't want to expose him to the outside world more than necessary. Getting sick could have killed him.
He has just recovered from his second surgery and gotten a clean bill of health from the cardiologist so I thought it was safe to take him out now.
Yes it has been tough, DH and I haven't been out without him yet (except while he was in the hospital, but that hardly counts), but I'm hoping we can do so soon. We really want to see X2 and I asked a friend to babysit. It will be his first babysitter!!!
Steph
Roxworld replied: I hear ya Steph....we got a babysitter for the same reason!!! But we have to wait til next weekend.....so don't give anything away!!!! Then on the 15th.....Matrix Reloaded comes out.....we've got that covered also can't wait.
dhoppygirl replied:
We are also looking forward to seeing both movies...we need to set up a babysitter (Peyton has only been babysat by family members (grandma, sister) except for one time!!!
