Tummy Time

~Roo'sMama~ wrote: Andrew hates it! rolleyes.gif The second I put him on his tummy he becomes obsessed with getting his thumb in his mouth and doesn't even try to lift his head until he gets super mad. Even if I'm lying on the floor with him talking to him he hates it - I've only not gotten down there with him once or twice and he didn't act any differently. rolleyes.gif A couple days ago I decided to try giving him his Nuk thinking maybe if he wasn't trying so hard to get his thumb in his mouth he'd start trying to lift his head up, and nope! He just stopped crying and lay there contentedly sucking on his Nuk until he fell asleep! tongue.gif Anywho I've been really bad about putting him on his tummy since he hates it so much - I feel kind of guilty about it. unsure.gif It was pretty cute though - here's a picture of him before he fell asleep. wub.gif

MomToMany replied: wub.gif He's adorable Sara!

Just wait a week and try again. He might be more interested then. Some babies just can't stand tummy time, although mine did.

JessC replied: AWWW, sara he is getting SO big!!! blink.gif wub.gif

Tamatha replied: Trey isn't too keen on tummy time most days, either. I have found that if I catch him in the right mood, we can get about 8 minutes in without a screaming fest, but much beyond that, and he just gets upset. My ped told me its because tummy time restricts their ability to move their arms and legs, and they don't like that. Except that's precisely why tummy time is so good for them! They have to work harder to move, and it aids in development. I just hate it when he screams, though!

mammag replied: He is sooo cute!!!

I would worry too much about it. He'll get when he's ready

moped replied: Don't beat yourself up about it - I didn't for a long timw with Jack - I think I just forgot...................he is normal, and he will enjoy it when heis ready, and he is just too cute laying there!

It's all good

amynicole21 replied: Nora hates it, too. I really don't like putting her in tummy time either, because she mashes her face into the blanket instead of turning her head to the side... it really freaks me out. Now she's able to get up on her elbows a little, so it's not as bad, but she still hates it. rolleyes.gif

kayla's mama replied: Kayla hated it also. I noticed that when she learned to roll over she loved tummy time. I to am guilty of not doing tummy time when she was smaller, but it all worked out. BTW, he is such a cutie wub.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil hated tummy time too and he would get frustrated and then scream for me to pick him up. I tried everything. So the ped just said to keep trying but for really short periods of time several times per day. She also suggested using the boppy to lift him up a bit. Or they have some type of mat that has water in it and floating stars and things. I guess babies like the feeling, but I enver bought it. Your DS will do it when he's ready. I can't remember when exactly that Wil finally lifted his head while on his tummy, but I do remember it was much later than most of my friend's babies.

ediep replied: Jason hated it too when he was really tiny. His ped told me not to worry and try to just start with 1-2 minutes at a time, then work up to longer

A&A'smommy replied: OMG he is SO cute!! love2.gif

I just got done telling a friend not to worry about it lol but no really don't worry about it just give his nuk and lay him down there at least once a day or once every other day I didn't really get Alyssa to stay down there until she was almost two months old and then she finally liked it. Anyway most babies do hate it but it does get easier tongue.gif

huggybugboy replied: I have never really done tummy time with Miles blush.gif because he hates it sooo much. Even a minute was too much for him. Now that he is rolling over he doesnt mind being on his belly so much but only if he gets there himself (and after a while he will get frustrated b/c he can't get back over.) But if I put him on his tummy he freaks out. I was kind of worried about his muscles not developing well enough, but he seems to be normal and gets lots of exercise in other ways.
PS Hes so cute! wub.gif wub.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
I forgot about it for a long time too - and I still forget about it a lot. blush.gif I'm glad I'm not the only one! tongue.gif

Thanks everybody! I think he's pretty darn cute too. wink.gif I'm glad he's not the only one that doesn't like tummy time too. I'll keep trying it but I'll try not to worry too much about it! happy.gif

angelhair replied: what a cute picture. he looks so content love dee

My2Beauties replied: Hanna hated tummy time - she threw fits, she wuld scream until I took her off her tummy, she never did roll over neither until she was already able to sit up on her own and she is completely fine BTW, in a way tummy time is overrated, why make them scream over it! I stopped trying once she threw tantrums over it a couple of times blush.gif

MissyKay2005 replied: Awww so cute wub.gif I am so ready for my baby to come now!!!
