Ugh! Mystery smell!!!

amynicole21 wrote: My garbage disposal and dish washer STINK blink.gif Ewwww! It smells like rotten eggs. I've tried pouring dish soap into the disposal, and am trying Oxiclean now (says it works on the package, we'll see). Anybody know what else I can do? Especially for the dishwasher - how do you even get in there to clean it?? YUCK!!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I would try running your dishwasher with vinegar or a little bit of bleach! thumb.gif Hope you get rid of that funky smell soon!

MommyToAshley replied: My MIL said a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice (make like a paste) works well for smelly drains. I haven't tried it yet though.

Good Luck!

Kaitlin'smom replied: They do have a cleaner you can buy for the dishwasher, you put it in run it with no dishes of course and it cleans it. I tryied one once not to bad, butt hen the dishwaser was not cleaning my dishes, it was going bad so we bought a new one! As for the drain dunno my smells usually came from the dishwasher (they have the same drain) I used lemon juice. That did work. Good luck!

ediep replied: we had the same problem with our dishwasher...I used the dishwasher cleaner that Kaitlin suggested. I bought it in the grocery store, it is right with the other cleaners. It worked pretty well.

victoire2002 replied: If you have pets, supposedly the enzyme cleaners you use for cleaning up their messes works on sinks too. Mix it with warm water, not hot, and pour it down the drain. The enzymes go to work immediately, and you can wait about 5 min before running any water.

Good luck! Don't ya just hate those gross smells???

maliksmommy replied: We are having the exact same problem withour sink, please let me know what you find works the best. I tried baking soda last week but it only helped a little.

chloe&tysmommy replied: Am I the only one that doesn't own a dishwasher? LOL

I would LOVE one but my kitchen is so small....sorry I can't help you out sad.gif

supermom replied: For the garbage disposal we always just used fresh lemons or limes or even an orange cut up and put down the disposal - it made it smell good in no time. I would also check that you are not in the beginnings of a drainage problem, since both of them do smell (don't want to be a alarmist, but that was my first thought)

Kirstenmumof3 replied:
My Dishwasher is gone I miss it but like you our kitchen is way to small for one! Besides I like washing dishes! thumb.gif

paradisemommy replied: sorry - dishwasherless here too..we were always raised doing them by hand and so that's what i've always stuck to!

but for the garbage disposal - i always used lemons/limes/oranges too - they work really well!

dolfinrse replied: No dishwasher here either. No garbage disposal either. Our kitchen is way too small too. mad.gif
