Uh....I don't think the cake turned out well

coasterqueen wrote: sleep.gif I'm not impressed with my Teddy Bear cake. bawling.gif First off I have to say it's missing it's lower body/feet. I forgot to put the heat core in the cake pan and so it made it to where there wasn't enough batter, etc. But I went ahead and decorated what was there. rolleyes.gif It just doesn't look very good. bawling.gif

Dh says it does and I should go with it. Isn't he just a sweetheart. wub.gif But he has bad taste, though. tongue.gif

I REALLY wanted to go with the teddy bear but I KNOW I can't do any better than this. blush.gif

mummy2girls replied: Thats cute!

if your not happy with it and its bugging you..you can give that one to meagan to attack on her own and then try baking another one for everyone else.. unless your done cooking then i would say keep that one...i think its cute!

Edward's Mommy replied: I think it looks GREAT! Very cute. When I was a little girl, my grandmother use to make a Barbie cake. She put a Barbie in the top of the cake and the Barbie's dress would be made of icing.

kayla's mama replied: I think it looks great thumb.gif

Kayla's B-day is in a month....so when are you coming to bake her cake lol tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied: You all are TOO kind. happy.gif Thank you.

Shelly, the teddy bear cake is going to be the cake that Megan tears into. It's going to sit on top of a full sheet cake to be the decoration on it. Make sense? So yes, she will get to tear into it, but it's also part of the big cake. Hmmmm, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. blush.gif

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif What kind of cake are you thinking of?

kayla's mama replied: I don't know. Maybe a pooh bear or just a plain ol' sheet cake.

This month is going to fly by...

I still can't believe our girls are turning 1 already bawling.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen it is cute. happy.gif

Those are hard. Even my mother has trouble with them...that's why I said you were brave. wink.gif

If you don't want to try again, you could make her a smaller cake to tear into. wink.gif Just a little round one.

Let me think...I might can come up with some cute ideas.

NEWMOM05 replied: I think it's cute. I am not good at any of that. So I am impressed.

Peggy biggrin.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I like it! Honestly, if you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have known that wasn't the whole thing.

CantWait replied: I Love it. I would have just thought you were just doing the top half of the bear. I think it looks adorable. wub.gif

luvmykids replied: You probably already had the party, but I think that's really cute, especially on top of a sheetcake! thumb.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: I give you alot of credit, I could never make a cake like that! It looks awesome! I'm impressed wink.gif The most creative I can get with cooking, is making mickey mouse pancakes! emlaugh.gif

You did a good job! I really like it! bigtup.gif

Edited to say, I really like your stove! I want to get one of those, I bet they are easy to clean. happy.gif

ediep replied: Karen, it looks cute. Its looks difficult to make perfect. I know how you feel, I always get a sense of satisfaction when I make a cake for Jason.

Maybe it would be easier to make a flat cake and decorate it with cake parts and frosting.... Family Fun magazine usually has some good ideas, or you could just eyeball it if you have a picture to copy.

Here is a pic of a cake I made for Jasons first birthday. I just made a 9x13 rectangle cake and I used a pic of Elmo to use as a guide. I cut the shape of elmos face and used the extra pieces to make the eyes and nose.

You could even make 3 cakes and use one to cut up and one to put the bear on to frost.

good luck

3_call_me_mama replied: karen- wasn't that your test cake? or are you freezing it to save for her birthday?
It looks fine IMO> Especially if it is going to be on top of a sheetcake. really, it looks yummy!
And if you are making another one just remember to put that core in it, and it'll be fine. I wouldn't have known there were feet missing if you hadn't said anything. I saw GO FOR IT!!

kimberley replied: i think it's adorable!!! if you only saw the little cake i made for Jade's first birthday, you'd be ROFL blush.gif i am no betty crocker, but 1yo's are not picky wink.gif

luvbug00 replied: I think it looks like my brothers teddy Alan! wub.gif it's cute!!

booey2 replied: thumb.gif thumb.gif It looks awesome, why don't you keep that separate from the sheet cake and just decorate the sheet with some other teddy stuff. No worries, the only ones who may comment are the adults and it is Megan's birthday afterall not theirs.

coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone! You are all too kind happy.gif For those that asked, yes this was the test cake. I'm not freezing this one. I just used a cake mix I had around the house, not the one I want to use for her birthday. As a matter of fact this cake is going in the TRASH. happy.gif Well, it will after Kylie gets one piece of it. If it sits around our house I'll devour it and that's not good for my diet and DH doesn't like cake that much.

I think it looks worse in person, but you know what I have to stop trying to be perfect and realize my kids will love everything I do no matter what, right? I guess I worry about everyone else at the party and what they think and I need to stop doing that. happy.gif

I think I feel the pressure because Ryan's cousin made a Pooh 3D cake that was AWESOME and that was her first time doing it. growl.gif People like that drive me crazy. laugh.gif And she'll be there. Oh well, who cares, right? Megan will still have fun diving into it. tongue.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
hug.gif Exactly. You love them enough to do this for them and that is all that matters.

Heck, I bought Ethan a cake yesterday that I could have easily made. blush.gif

Kudos to you for doing this for Megan. thumb.gif It looks great and I bet it tastes great. She will have a lot of fun! biggrin.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: its better than anything I could have done. I give you props for trying and succeeding with it. I think it looks cute. I say who cares what others think, if they dont like it dont eat it IMO, I mean its not to sit on the mantel it to eat so what if its not perfect, its going to be eaten..yummy I love cake, anywho great job thumb.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: You should bring it to work as a treat instead of throwing it away... rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

You were's that far off. Here's a pic of the pattern, I bet it's the same one...

coasterqueen replied:
I would bring it to work, but my 2 co-workers are HEALTH NUTS nuts.gif except for the candy aisle in here that they devour. tongue.gif If you bring in donuts or cake or anything on that nature I'm the only one who eats it. rolleyes.gif

BTW, that pic is great, is there any way you can email it to me bigger?

My2Beauties replied: I think it's really cute Karen. I could never do something like that - I suck at baking! blush.gif You did a wonderful job!

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
I can try... lol

salmndr007 replied: I think the cake looks great and if it is any consolation, I would eat it in a heartbeat!

redchief replied:
Karen, first off it's cute.... Secondly, IT'S CAKE>>> Don't you DARE throw it away. You can send it to me. rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

Um... that was the fat kid in me talking. Sometimes he takes over my hands, mouth, belly... whatever he thinks it takes. laugh.gif

kimberley replied:
rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif you crack me up, Ed!

jem0622 replied: That is just adorable! You did a super job! thumb.gif
