Ultrasound Question

Another question, if you get one after the 20 week u/s do you have another and if so ... WHEN?

Tomorrow is my 35 week appt. so, I am just wondering what to expect in the coming weeks.

lisar replied: It depends really. I had so many done with both pregnancies Lexi was breech so they were always doing one on me and Raygen was so small that they were always checking on her. I had one a week with Raygen for about last 2 months. She ended up 6 weeks early it was good thing they were doing them once a week cause if not they wouldnt have caught the problem. But with a healthly pregnancy I think 2 is normal. I am sorry I am not much help with your question.

If you have some possible complications, there will be more U/S, if not, I would say increasingly frequent ones leading up to your due date, it really depends though. I know our next one is 20 weeks, but after that, who knows. We're using a different OB this time, so she may be different.

Cece00 replied: Unless there is a reason they need to check out your baby, you're unlikely to have any more during your pregnancy.

I guess my case was different...I did have him early, and they did many U/S late in the pregnancy for me, but I was different, so maybe not?

MyLuvBugs replied: With Lorelei I had 4 done. One at 6 wks b/c we lost one of our babies (she was a twin). One at 12 wks, one at 17or 18 wks, and then another at like 22 wks b/c they needed better pics of her tummy.

This time I've had 3. 8wks, 15 wks (I think) and then 22 wks (I think...they're all blending together ). HOwever, I was told that he she stays breech, they'll do at least one more U/S...maybe more.

I agree that it depends on the dr. that you're seeing and if you're having complications at all.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Depends on the Dr. and your situation. I had 2 with each girl - one right in the beginning to set a due date and one around 20 weeks.

I had one done at the very beginning to determine if it was in the right spot, how many babies etc.... Then i had one done at 17 weeks because I had a test that showed a possibility for spina bifada. and then thats it.

So it all depends on your situation and such...

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I had three with Andrew ~ I think that's the standard for my doctor's office. One at 8 weeks, one around 20 weeks, and another at 35 -36 weeks.

I'm hoping to squeeze in an extra u/s with this one - my dr. said I might be able to get another peek at my next appointment (which will be my 12 week appt.).

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I had one at 18 weeks and did another one at 24 weeks. The 18 week one was the only one that the insurance paid for. The 24 week one was an elective 4D ultrasound. We paid for it.

luvmykids replied: I got lucky with the twins and got one every few weeks, with Macie I only got one.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I had tons with both Katy and Matt...2+ a week from 26 weeks on this time I had an early one, the genetic test one, 20 week and then 22 because they couldn't see all the heart stuff. I doubt I will have another, but I wouold love another peak to make sure she is still a girl
