Update
coasterqueen wrote: Well the doctor's office didn't call me back til this morning. The nurse said the doctor told me to stop nursing ASAP and if I don't I will more than likely loose this baby. This is not my doctor who said this. I told the nurse I thought that was &%#($&#)$& and that I wanted to be seen! She said she'd give my chart to my regular doctor and call me back.
Well within 20 minutes (enough time for me to cry my eyes out at work ) she called back and said my doctor wanted me to drop whatever it was I was doing and go get blood work done immediately! They were going to test for HcG levels and progesterone levels again. I did that at 11 am. She told me to call back after 3 pm this afternoon to get the results. Then they will most likely do a transvaginal ultrasound to see what is going on. I just don't know if the u/s will be tomorrow or when. Knowing them they'll make me wait til next week!
I'm just a wreck. I know, I know it could be old blood..it could be normal..etc, but when a doctor tells you that YOU are causing your baby to miscarry..well it gets to you. Course MY doctor said to keep continuing until we get to the bottom of this. But it's in the back of my mind now...I love to torture myself.
So hopefully in the next 1.5 hours I will get GREAT bloodwork results. I'm praying that's the case. I want this baby so badly and I want him/her to be healthy. I just wish the spotting and yucky cramping would go away. The cramping is not like the cramping I've been having but it's not terrible yet.
So I appreciate your prayers ladies...keep them coming please.
Jamison'smama replied: I've been thinking about you a lot today--glad you posted--I will absolutely send prayers your way!! Please keep us posted.
MommyToAshley replied: Oh sweetie, how scarey all this must be. But, please try to calm down until you hear the results. I know, easier said than done. I am sure it is nothing. You and your baby are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.
And, on that nurse for making such an uninformed and thoughtless comment.
Kaitlin'smom replied: you are deffinatly in my thougths today, I hope they dont make you waite until next week......its 3p here so hopefully you will be getting great results back sooN!
5littleladies replied: I'll be praying for you and your baby today. Hang in there.
DansMom replied: Karen, I hope it's not anything serious, but I'm glad your doc is taking it seriously. It's so hard to wait for test results like this. Hugs to you
jem0622 replied: Keeping you in my prayers. Update when you know more.
kit_kats_mom replied: I'll be thinking of you Karen & hoping that it is nothing serious.
Are you still feeling nauseaus & fatigued?
I'm not able to find the passage right now but I know that "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" has some good info on nursing during pregnancy and when it is advisable to stop. If I recall, it was only necessary to stop if you are labeled a "high risk" pregnancy.

K's weaned now so if you are interested, I'd be happy to let you borrow my copy. Just email me your mailing addy. I may need it back if she wants to nurse after the new baby is here but hopefully not! LOL
MomToMany replied: Lots of hugs coming your way, Karen!! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Schnoogly replied: Oh no! I hope everything is OK! FWIW I don't think nursing is doing anything. Most miscarriages aren't "caused" by anything, and seem to happen for a reason related to the development of the embryo.
I have never spotted but I've been pretty crampy, with this one and with Iain too, for the first couple of months. I think it is the uterus stretching. Maybe the old blood comes from around the cervix?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen~ You may have the results by now and I hope everything is fine. I know I spotted when I was pg with Maddie and I cramped a lot with both of them, but more so with Ethan. I will keep you in my prayers. Hang in there sweetie. It is amazing what little tricks your mind can play on you while waiting news like this. One thing I always kept in mind was that any and all symptoms such as nausea, exhaustion, etc was a good sign. It seemed to be uncomfortable at times, but I was relieved in knowing that the baby was growing and healthy otherwise I wouldn't be feeling these things. Try to relax. That is MOST important.
coasterqueen replied: No news yet I called at 3 and they said their computers were down but they would have the results faxed to them and call me back. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Thanks everyone. It means a lot to me that you are all here for me. My friends/family IRL just keep telling me to stop nursing and are not giving me much support at this point.
kit_kats_mom replied: One side note. I just spoke with the nurse-midwife at my new OB's office. She was calling to set up my first appt with them. I mentioned my BH contractions and she said that second pregnancies are often much more painful than firsts. She said that cramping, BH contrax, ligamint pain etc are often much more pronounced.
kimberley replied: (((((big hugs)))) Karen! hang in there sweetie! hopefully the doc will call back soon and you can put your mind to rest. as you have read, cramping is very common and you should be just fine. and i agree that nursing IS safe during pg. many prayers and calming vibes coming your way.
aspenblue1 replied: Hopefully the dr gave you some good news. You will be in my prayers.
mama3x replied: Karen I hope you've gotten word by now. And I don't know about that nurse you had to deal with...
I would still be nursing my little one now, like you are. She was SLOWLY weaned in July around the time I hit the 11th-12th week only because Kyrie was ready and it was really laying me out in addition to the meds I was on for BP. My OB said even some high risk pgs may nurse up to 20 wks with careful monitoring.
I know in my heart it's hard not to worry and freak out with the medical staff and your thoughts but I hope knowing some of us are going through or went through the same things help somewhat.
Sending lots of support your way!!!!!
lsjulee replied: Lots of hugs and prayers for you.
MomToMany replied: Hey, Karen! I agree w/ what Cary and Kimberley said. Second PG's ARE more painful/crampy than the first. I know I had some scary moments while PG with Hannah and Kayla. I had some early spotting and cramping. They did several U/S's and everything was fine. And I agree that nursing is perfectly safe, too (BTDT!). We're here to support you fully through this, no matter what!
Do you have the book Adventures In Tandem Nursing? I highly recommend it! It's all about nursing while PG and everything that goes along with it. It sure helped save my sanity while nursing Hannah while PG with Kayla.
Guest_angelhair replied: karen, you are not the cause of anything, it sounds as though the nurse did not know what she was saying and good for you to stand up for yourself!!! I have neverheard of a m/c caused by nursing, in fact it is not! however, I to had real bad cramping that went away after about five minutes or so and when talking to my doctor he reassured me that it can be very normal. it is because the uterus is stretching and undergoing a lot of changes. also about the bloodwork, that is not always foolproof and I say this in that even if the numbers are not what they so called should be you cN CERTAINELY AHVE A GOOD PREG. THAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN MY HCG WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND SAID THAT IT WAS DEFEINTELY A MISCARRIAGE. WELL FOUR WEEKS LATER AND TWO ULTRASOUNDS LATER i AM STILL HANGING ON. i REALLY FEEL THE ULTRASOUND WILL TURN OUT FINE! i KNOW IT. WHEN i HAD MY M/C BOTH TIMES THE SPOTTING TURNED INTO HEAVY BLEEDING THAT LASTED FOR SEVERAL DAYS WHICH CERTAINELY DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE CASE WITH YOU. i THINK THE ODDS ARE IN YOUR FAVOR. i WAS WONDERING, HOW FAR ALONG ARE YOU KAREN? HUGS!!!!!!
jen replied: OMG! I really need to make more time for myself and pop in more often! First of all CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! and second of all BIG BIG BIG HUGS to you and the bean! I am sure you are fine! and YOU ARE DUE THE SAME TIME I WAS just 2005! WHat a great time to be pregnant not to hot not to cold! KWIM!!! Hang in there! I am definitely going to make time to be around more!!! (((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
paradisemommy replied: sending lot of p&pt's your way..i'm hoping you heard back from the office and got some great readings..but since you haven't posted, now i'm worried...please update when you can...lots of *HUGS*
Jamison'smama replied: Me too--update when you can!!
coasterqueen replied: I still have not heard. I was so upset that they never called back and when I tried to call them back the office was closed. I was so angry that I just cried and I yelled at DH. I just had to be angry at someone, DH understood and I apologized.
How could they make me wait til today!!!!!??! I'm going to have a few choice words with them when I call them this morning. So I can't call them til 8 am cst which is an hour from now.
Thank you so much everyone for being here for me. I really appreciate it and really need it. Dh made me feel so awful last night I didn't nurse her. She asked twice and I told her it was all gone and she wimpered just a second and rolled over and went to sleep. But this morning when DH was asleep she asked and I let her. I know he'll be fine with all of this when the doctor reassures us.
So as soon as I get word I will let you all know. and thanks again.
Guest replied: I know it is hard to wait, I tell you this doctor seems inconsiderate at the very least and I would be upset to! they could at least have called you back even if the computers were down and expalained what was going on. hopefully you will get a answer this morning andd you can rest assured. I know the worst part is not knowing, but I really believe everything will be fine. remember, there are plenty of women who spot. my cousin spotted for a whole week and her son turned out fine! and cramping can actually be a good sign that your uterus is growing and stretching. update us today if you can when you get ahold of the doctor! love dee
ediep replied: Karen, I am so sorry I didn't get to see this thread yeaterday. I am sending you tons of prayers and positive thoughts!!! (((((((HUGS))))))))
update us when you get a chance!
Kaitlin'smom replied: grrr I hate when they wont call you back and at least let you know something even if they have no answers yet. I hope you have found something out by now, tons of hugs your way.
amynicole21 replied: Karen, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having such stress lately! Hang in there, sweetie! Keep us posted
Schnoogly replied: Yes, ITA with this...I don't remember having ligament pain until 2nd trimester, and I'm already cringing when I roll over or pick Iain up weird. At first it scared me, but then I remembered that pain very well...
A&A'smommy replied: awww I didn't see this post yesterday! ((((BIG HUGS)))
