Update on Spencer (from DH) - Prayers needed

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Spencer had a blood transfusion at 12:30am on Dec. 27th(blood had to be flown in from Winnipeg). He handled the whole procedure pretty well (what a trooper). His colour came back and his energy level increased as a result of the transfusion, which are good signs.
In order to determine why his body has stopped producing white and red blood cells (he is still developing platelets) they need to do a biopsy on his bone marrow (this is only done in larger centres than Thunder Bay). Spencer and Kirsten were flown (by special medical plane) to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto (they left Tuesday morning around 11am).
Once they got to Sick Kids they took more blood samples from Spencer (on top of the 12 vials they took Thunder Bay (gee, I wonder why he has a low blood count, they keep taking it out!!). His hemogloban level was still too low for the procedure so he received another transfusion yesterday afternoon. The second transfusion raised his levels up over the threshold and the biopsy was scheduled for Wednesday morning. Unfortunately it got cancelled, as there were over 30 kids having the procedure today. He is rescheduled for tomorrow.
We are hopeful that they will find the cause of the disorder quickly, and that he will be started on treatment before the end of the week.
Kirsten is keeping the family up to date throughout the day, so I will post as I receive more information. My extended family (Aunt and 3 cousins) will be up to the hospital Thursday to visit. One of my cousins went through a similar situation with her son when he was still an infant, so she will be able to Kirsten with some reasurance that all will be all right.
