Used something better than shampoo & conditioner

MomToMany wrote: I washed my hair with 1/4 cup baking soda & 1 TB sugar, scrubbing my scalp really well since I have so much dandruff. Then I rinsed that out. Then I used 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (the brown kind) with 2 drops of lavender essential oil in a big cup & filled it up with the shower water and dumped it on my hair & worked it through and let it sit until I was done with my shower, then rinsed. My hair is SOOO soft & shiny! Looks really good too! It's usually like rope (coarse & brittle), but not anymore! I don't see ANY flakes anymore either, and it's not so itchy!

I'm keeping up this routine thumb.gif !!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: interesting.....my grandmother used to use cornstarch.

Did you know that if your hair is really oily and you odn`t have TIME to wash it - sprinkle cornstarch in your hair and comb it out? Gets the oily look out anyways...

I`ve used mayonnaise before. Was really smooth and silky.... but I don`t usually have the time to leave it in long enough....I take really quick showers.

MomToMany replied: thumb.gif Thanks for that tip! Mine does get oily occasionally. LOL, I know all about not having enough time to get stuff done!

aspenblue1 replied: I am going to have to try that.

kimberley replied: thumb.gif awesome! will have to try it. there are sooooo many good things about apple cider vinegar thumb.gif

amynicole21 replied: Mollie, I think you can use the tea tree oil for dandruff, too... have to look that one up though wink.gif

mckayleesmom replied: might give it a whirl.....I heard stale beer works good too.

coasterqueen replied: That's awesome that it worked! thumb.gif I really need to do something for my oily hair. I just noticed it at lunch. I think it's the shampoo I'm using or it's building up on my scalp. huh.gif Yuck! Course I can't stand the smell of vinegar so I'm not sure I could do it. blush.gif

Where do you get a lot of your tips for things like this? I liked your one mentioned earlier about how you wash your clothes without detergents. That's very interesting to me. I was wanting to find one to wash Megan's clothes in that smells good but she has sensitive skin.

gr33n3y3z replied: Oh that sounds great I will have to write that down
thanx for the info

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
DH puts tea tree oil on his feet to get rid of scaly yellow skin and fungus toes...so I imagine it would help with the scalp too. I can't stand the smell though!!! DH also uses tea tree shampoo and deoderant. It's a natural antiseptic I think.

kit_kats_mom replied: paul mitchell makes a tea tree oil shampoo...love it! It tingles your scalp.

CantWait replied: I'll have to try that. I get a nasty build up on my scalp from my moouse, and I don't even use that much.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm all for this! thumb.gif I can't wait to try it.
