Vacuuming question. - what brand?
Bee_Kay wrote: I've had so many darn vacuums over the years.
It got me thinking about the "dog" post, because I wrote about my golden retriever. She sheds.... OMG does she shed.
Anyways, I had one of those Fantom vacuums but it kind of craps out on heavy vacuuming jobs (like Goldren Retriever fur) LOL!
So, after thinking about it for awhile, my husband went to Sears and bought me a Dyson Animal vacuum.
It was fairly expensive (WAY more than I thought we'd EVER pay for a vacuum), but I couldn't flippin believe how well it worked. I had NO IDEA that my carpets were so dirty.
We remodeled our home last summer..... that Dyson vacuum sucked up sheetrock dust that was crammed into our carpet from that long ago that the Fantom didn't get out.
So, the question I am getting at is... does anyone have a Dyson? Or what kind of vacuum do you have?
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: We have the animal Dyson vaccum and we like it. Expensive but we really like it.
ammommy replied: I love my Dyson. It's about 2.5-3 years old and still does a great job. My ped recommended it for my son's allergies and he was right. My only gripe is that it doesn't do a great job of picking up the big stuff. You know, the stuff that you keep vacuuming over instead of just bending down to pick it up
coasterqueen replied: I don't know what brand our regular vacume is, it was very expensive though.
We use Roomba the most. It is EXCELLENT at getting up all the cat hair in our carpets, much better than our vacume cleaner has ever done. He's (Roomba) is considered a part of our family.
Bee_Kay replied: A Roomba...
That reminds me....
The first time I saw a Roomba commercial, I thought it was a joke!!
Seriously, I thought it was one of those stupid Geico commercials... or that one commercial where it shows a fly on the screen (and it REALLY looks like the fly is on the screen of your TV for real).
coasterqueen replied: They have a lawn mower out like Roomba that DH wants and it's $12k+. I thought that was a joke, but it's not.
Bee_Kay replied:
Hmmm.. paying more for a lawnmower than the current value of my car?!?!?!
Like a riding lawnmower is so much work!!!
coasterqueen replied: Funny thing is my Dh rarely mows, I do. It is sorta cool, though. We have 3.5 acres and it would be AWESOME to turn that puppy on and watch it mow the yard or for me to start it before work and come home and it's done. That would be much better than spending 4+ hours on the weekend doing when I could be spending that with my kids. But since I will never be able to afford that, I"ll just dream about it.
KingMom replied: We also have the Dyson and have to 2 Daschunds that do shed hair, one more than the other (though both are short hair). We didn't reallize how dirty our rugs/carpets were before we got the Dyson, we just absolutely love it!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: We have had the Dyson for a couple years now and I am starting to notice how bad of a job it's doing. I was so happy with it for about a year but no it's almost pathetic seeing what is isn't picking up. We also have a Kirby and that sucker is heavy and a major PITA but works really well. If the Dyson ruins our carpets the way it looks like it will I will be getting my wood floors sooner
ammommy replied: Have you cleaned the filter and brushes?
kayla's mama replied: DH got me the Animal Dyson as a going back to work gift and I LOVE IT!!!!! We had an Australian Shepard and omg, did she shed. I can't believe what all that vacuum picks up Its unreal. I actually enjoy vacumming because I get to see everything I pick up, I know thats weird but thats just me
Bee_Kay replied: Oh I know! LOL
When my dh first brought it home, I vacuumed EVERYTHING in sight!! LOL
We have a carpeted stairway and I love the hose on it.... it stretches out to like 17 feet. So, it's pretty easy to use. I am amazed at how much crap gets on the carpet in just one day!!
luvmykids replied: DYSON all the way, I will never use anything else again!!!! Plus, they're more expensive but the filters are great, you save some money not buying bags, they have an awesome replacement warranty and I just flat out love the satisfaction I get every time I vacuum!
BTW-the lady at Sears told me b/c the warranty is so good, when the 5 years is almost up to throw it in front of a semi and then I'd get a brand new one with a new warranty. But you didn't hear it from me!
aspenblue1 replied: I have a simplicity and I love it.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Kirby
~~*Missi*~~ replied: we have two vaccumms I like the Hoover bagless with hepa filter. It worked great with our pitbulls and they shed like crazy. plus i am anal and vaccum DAILY it has lasted 4 yrs LOL
The other one we have is a bag hoover with hepa filter i like it but i hate the bags. I swear they make such a mess changing them.
We have dogs and brids so the pet dander is a booger here. I have allergies and have no issues with either. Both do a great job with the hair and dander but I hate the bags!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Yep...we've taken it all apart and cleaned it all. Since we started having problems with it I found out that truely it isn't a very good vacuum and that though it "doesn't loose suction" the suction is only descent to begin with. It was doing a great job getting all the dog fur up but when it comes to getting the sandy gross stuff up it's fairly worthless. Right now the only reason i use it is because the Kirby is just to heavy to carry up and down the stairs and since I want wood floors downstairs it's okay if those floors get destroyed but I want the upstairs carpets to stay nice.
Jamison'smama replied: I love the Dyson--and ours does a great job of sucking up the tiny stuff--we swept up carpet sprinkle from our carpets that we used 6 months before we got our Dyson--our Hoover never got it all up.
luvmykids replied: Do you have the warranty? Maybe it's just a lemon? I've had mine for almost 3 years and had no trouble at all, once in a while I have to check the seals but thats it.
