Very fun, easy tie dye!

mom21kid2dogs wrote: You guys may have already seen this but this is a great tie dye project without the mess. These shirts are so unique and pretty when done. Great for a summer project, scouts, etc. O made them yesterday at school summer camp. I'd show you her's but she hasn't taken it off since she brought it home! rolleyes.gif

PrairieMom replied: rainy day. I just may do that this afternoon

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Soooo Cool!!! thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied: they are doing them now. laugh.gif I made one for Charlie. We only had blue red and purple markers , so we are making 4th of july shirts. tongue.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied:
I told Olivia I was making a red & blue one for me for the 4th. I'm off to wally world now to get a T shirt!!!

boyohboyohboy replied: neat, we are going to do it this weekend! thanks for sharing!

PrairieMom replied: we had a ton of plain tshirts left over from Ben's birthday. I bought a bunch for the kids to decorate with puffy paint, but no one showed up. dry.gif I was wondering what I was going to do with all these darn shirts!

stella6979 replied: Ok, I am so not crafty at all but from what I can tell of the video only a small party of the shirt is being dyed? Do you have to keep moving the shirt to cover the entire thing? I am seriously clueless!!!!!!!!

PrairieMom replied:
yeah, you do it one spot at a time, so you have to move the cup around and start the process again. Its super easy, Ben did it on his own at 7, Al only needed my help to move the cup and rubber band it down.

moped replied: Ok, so would this be something fun for Jacks birthday buddies?

So you take a sharpei and then rubbing alcohol????????

Where can I cheap t shirts?

MoonMama replied: Awesome!! thumb.gif Definitely my next project with Brae, probably today. thumb.gif

I'd love to see everyones shirts, who have done it so far.

Jen I'd just head to Target (or the like) and get a few packs of boys white tshirts (hanes or fruit of the loom, etc).

moped replied:
Ok, so would this be fun for a birthday of mostly boys?

mom21kid2dogs replied:
The summer camp O is in is half boys, half girls. Several of the boys were wearing their shirts today (they made them yesterday). The boys seemed to enjoy this as much as the girls. thumb.gif

CantWait replied: This looks like a lot of fun...I wonder though, I don't know how to ask for alcohol here so would vodka work, there's tons of that here lol

coasterqueen replied: Awesome. thumb.gif Maybe I can have the girls do this next week while we are in Galena. I need some projects for them to do with Ryan while I'm working. thumb.gif

MoonMama replied:
I think so, Brae had a blast! thumb.gif

bluebear replied: June 13-20th Michaels will have t-shirts on sale for 2 for $5.

If you do the design much larger will it spread over the entire shirt?

PrairieMom replied:
no, it only spreads a little way, you can actually still see the original design under the spreading.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
Maybe? You'd have to put the design over a large bowl or something, though. If you were doing a large design, you might be able to use a spray bottle with the alcohol as opposed to a dropper. It would be interesting to try on something old like a pillow case first to see.
