WOOOHOOOO!!!!! - College football fans

Kentuckychick wrote: I usually don't get overly excited, but when a team that's averaged about 4 wins a year for the past several years and had all but lost the faith of it's community turns itself around and plays the way that the University of Kentucky has played this season... it must be celebrated!!!

LSU came into town the #1 team in the country with the longest winning streak in college football... We proved we had the guts to take them on AND to take them down!!!

WOOT!!

kit_kats_mom replied: Woody went to the USF Bulls game today. They are really an unexpected team this year! Now that LSU went down (Thank you KY!) there's talk of USF going to the Sugar Bowl this year. That would be cool. I love living in a town with a good football team. It just makes it more exciting.

Sorry....BIG upset for us!

ETA: UK did deserve it though! WTG!

mom21kid2dogs replied: We watched the last 2 minutes of regulation and the rest of the game. It was great! There will be some serious partying in Lexington tonight! thumb.gif

Kentuckychick replied:
thumb.gif YES THERE WILL!!!

I think it stinks that UK has to pay $50,000 dollars for the fans rushing the field though... however I think they could raise the money easily if each of the fans contributed a little to the cost, I know I would and I wasn't even at the game!!

A&A'smommy replied: that was an awesome game, very exciting!!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: Congrats on UK winning! I saw the game and the overtimes, and it was an 'edge of your seat game'. thumb.gif

My team the Florida State Seminoles, lost for the second yr in a row to Wake Forest Thursday night. They did not play very well at all. sleep.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: We are pretty excited about USF. My brother Steve went to that college so we do cheer for them.

I couldn't believe LSU dropping to UK, but are happy for those boys for playing such a good game against the #1 team in the nation. I'm really curious to see how the polls stack up this week.

As for my Noles. Well I'm still trying to get over that game. The way my brother explains the whole mess we just played classic FSU ball. We pretty much let Wake hang around and they figured out how to beat us. They played a good game. We didn't. Basically we need to figure out who our quarterback is and stick with him. I'm going to stop now before this because an essay on Florida state football.

HuskerMom replied: That was a pretty good game last night. I wish Nebraska had done as good. We were losing 38-0 at halftime. They always seem to do bad during the first half then get scared that they're going to lose and do better in the second. tongue.gif I have a feeling the rest of our games this year are going to be just as bad. bawling.gif

Our Lil' Family replied:
Who do they have to pay that to?

Kentuckychick replied:
The NCAA dry.gif

I don't remember exactly what game started the whole thing, but during a game, possibly last year the fans rushed the field and yanked down the goal posts and created mayhem in the stadium and the NCAA told the University that they would be fined $5,000 if it happened again and that the amount would increase with each additional time.

The fans rushed the field for the Louisville game several weeks ago and the university was fined $25,000 dollars... this time it's $50,000. I'm sure this happens in other places as well and it's understandably for the safety of both teams but I think it's a little harsh, especially since the university has taken all precautions (taking down the goal posts as soon as the games end, providing security for the opposing team to get them off the field, etc...).

Nevertheless they will continue to fine them each time it happens (though $50,000 may be as high as the fine goes).

As Coach Brooks said though... it's totally worth it!

Our Lil' Family replied: Wow, I didn't realize that. I did see them taking down the goal posts immediately though and standing guard. That's a pretty hefty fine though, IMO.

NaturalMom replied: im glad you all beat LSU. my friggin Gators are down to number 15 and now we have a death on the team. things arent going well for us right now. I hope we can pull it together. can you all believe south florida is in the top? who'd a thunk! lol

My2Beauties replied: I must say Kentucky did a good job. I'm more of a Louisville fan, since that is where I graduated from, but I'm proud of Ky this year. DH is an avid KY fan in basketball and he is so excited to be able to cheer for the football team this year. I actually got into the game and I do not understand football at all. blush.gif

momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: Well thank you KY. That must be why OSU is #1 in the standings now. biggrin.gif
