moped wrote: was not fun - man it was hard, I had to get her to have her eyes open, head straight etc etc - after about half hour I finally was done - UGH

Anyways - we are going to Palm Springs in march - woohoooo

Crystalina replied: Where are you that you need a passport? huh.gif

Calimama replied: Yuck! Aren't they exempt if they are little? I'm sure they came out super cute though. hug.gif

CantWait replied: OH GOSH, I can only imagine. wacko.gif

luvbug00 replied: Yeah kim ( the friend i have mentioned before) , her charge that she nannys is going to the bahamas and he is 4 months and had to get one. kinda silly but nessisary is suppose since he can't drive. emlaugh.gif but then again couldn't u get an id?

lovemy2 replied: Oh MY that sure must have been fun laugh.gif

We have to get on that passport thing - we usually go somewhere in Niagara Falls/Toronto every summer - Marineland, Animal Safari....

Note to self - get passport apps emlaugh.gif

But oooohhh Palm Springs - how fun - who is there again? Your sister?

grandma replied:
Ditto?

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Heh heh

so do we. We should coordinate. Ha!

grapfruit replied:
I think it's silly you need a passport to go from Canada to the US and back. rolleyes.gif

lisar replied: Are you going to Palm springs in California or Florida?

Boo&BugsMom replied: When we went to Canada we didn't need a passport. huh.gif Is it different when you are coming TO the US from there? All we needed was our driver's license and birth certificate.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
You do now, laws have changed fairly recently in regards to this.My brother and sister went to Canada this summer and had to have their passports. The bad thing is if you need one ANYTIME this year I would start now.The kids had to pay a $75 fee to get it within 12 weeks because they are so backlogged! You need a passport now to go to Mexico too. Just in case anyone is planning a trip there anytime soon. I have some friends who have had shopping days screwed up because no one is used to having a passport for a 3 hour trip blink.gif rolleyes.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Wow, when did this change? We went to Canada about 3 years ago. Crazy too, because they didn't even check our certificates, but we had them just in case. We showed them our licenses and they checked our vehicles, and that was it.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Passports needed

Here is an article from the Washington Post.

ETA~ I did not realize a baby would need one. rolleyes.gif That is pretty stupid. rolleyes.gif

luvmykids replied: I personally think it's kind of silly for a baby so young to need one rolleyes.gif

I hope you have a great time, I'm so jealous tongue.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Well it will be a fun little keepsake for when she's older. I still have mine tucked away in a box from when I was maybe 7 and went to Mexico City. It's fun to look at the photo, me in pigtail braids, glasses and front teeth missing! laugh.gif

Sorry it wasn't fun Jen! hug.gif But you guys will have a blast in PS! One of my favorite spots. wub.gif

grandma replied:
It changed this year, you now need a passport to go to Canada or come to the US from there.

tammyhopkins replied: And i think i have told you that YOU SUCK tongue.gif

holley79 replied: Oh so Leila had her first mugshot huh? emlaugh.gif I bet she is just precious in it.

We just got our passports for DH, Annika and myself. We are still debating if Annika is going to cruise with us in May or not. If she does then she needs one. You can't get an ID card for a child in the state of FL till they are 5 according to the new law. That doesn't cut it anyway you HAVE to have a passport and the darn things are SO expensive. If they are going to make them mandatory then they should at least be resonable. dry.gif

grandma replied:
What's that about?

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
They are sisters..... emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

moped replied: All canadian citizens need a passport to cross the border by air - we are going to palm Springs California. And yes the kids need one too - travelling by car you can still cross with a birth cert, but not by air.

grandma replied:
Thanks.....

moped replied:
Sorry for your luck!!! tongue.gif

But you will be having a baby while we are gone.....I get a new nephew when i get home!

Oh and for those who asked, Toms parents have a house there for a couple months this winter.

lisar replied:
My cousin in Texas drove over into Mexico about 2 weeks ago and didnt need a passport or a birth certificate. He just needed his ID to get in and out. Weired uhh?

Brias3 replied: I always thought it was silly too for a baby to need one!

I remember needing a passport for all three of mine at very young ages. I just remember thinking, since the passport is good for a few years, how would they possibly know that this 3-year old next to me is the same kid in this newborn picture??? huh.gif blink.gif

Cece00 replied:
Just very recently...last yr, maybe since the 1st of this year.

Cece00 replied:
I dont know about you guys but I would never go into Mexico without a passport.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:
That is odd Lisa because I have had friends who haven't been able to get over the border-Well I guess it is more correct to say they were told they wouldn't be able to come back huh.gif

CeCe~ I would not go into Mexico lately AT ALL! blink.gif rolling_smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
Ummm soon you will need a passport to fly any where even in the States of U.S alone
I think its a good idea.

holley79 replied:
That's weird. huh.gif Because we are going to Mexico on our cruise we have to have a passport. Also my grandfather was going to take my aunt down to Mexico and she didn't have a passport so they said she wouldn't be able to get back. He seriously needs to be careful with that, for sure. I would hate to get stuck down there.

punkeemunkee'smom replied:

They would send you home! rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif hug.gif
