WTH is going on with my dogs?

luvmykids wrote: Bogie and Harley have been getting along GREAT....even sleeping next to each other, chasing and wrestling each other, etc. But today Bogie went after him three different times, for no apparant reason and out of the clear blue. What gives?

grandma replied:
I have two dogs also, they are half brothers and get along great, most of the time, but sometimes they go after each other. I don't even try to understand it, it's between them and God..... rolleyes.gif

luvmykids replied: Well I feel better at least knowing it's sort of normal...Bogie and our little dog Stevie have never had a single run in so it caught me off guard after all this time of the bigger two getting along. Poor Harley is in the garage for tonight because I don't want to hear it all night but I feel bad for the guy, he's not even the one starting it sleep.gif .

Oh geez, this is starting to sound like dealing with the kids laugh.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Hmmm, sounds like a normal thing to be honest.. same as when we have bad days and want to be left alone.. kwim.. it probally applies to them to!

Kaitlin'smom replied: who knows my cats some times do the same thing they get along good and the one will hall off and smack the other for no reason I know of. wacko.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Ours are the same way...2 of them have been curled up in the chair for a half hour sleeping...out of nowhere the 3rd one walks up, whacks both of them with her paw, then walks away into the playroom. rolleyes.gif

Anthony275 replied: cats always bat things with their paws, i think thats normal

grapfruit replied:
Yeah but there's a difference between a playful bat and "I'm p*ssed" bat. laugh.gif There are times when they just want to let you know that they're not happy. LoL

Anthony275 replied: or the "let me just bat you for no reason since im a cat and get you all mad" bat

A&A'smommy replied:
emlaugh.gif my cat does that to my dog, when she wants to play or when she is pissed tongue.gif

Their dogs there gonna do that tongue.gif

Calimama replied: They sound like they act like brothers. wink.gif

DVFlyer replied: How old are they? How long have they been living together?

luvmykids replied:
One is 5, one is 2, they've known each other for about a month. I think I'm finding out that the puppy antics of the 2yo annoy the 5yo laugh.gif But the other night it genuinely was out of the clear blue, Harley was just laying there and Bogie walked by, turned around and went at him.

DVFlyer replied: They are establishing pack order. A necessary thing for them to do. While fighting should be unacceptable to you- as the pack leader- it is inevitable for them to establish rank. Sometimes it's a simple growl, sometimes it's a fight. There are ways around it, but in your situation, it was/ is bound to happen.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yep, my dogs do this too. But a lot more often. Usually it's b/c Scout (puppy) annoys grumpy old Uga. But they sleep snuggled together. Scout lays across Uga's back to sleep. wub.gif

luvmykids replied:
Is your real name Ceasar Milan? laugh.gif I was just reading something of his about ME being the pack leader and teaching them that if they have grievances with each other they're supposed to come to me......this is way too much like parenting rolling_smile.gif

DVFlyer replied: No, my name is not Cesar Milan, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time. wink.gif

I like Cesar's work, but after reading his book, I came away with the impression that his main "tip" is to exercise your dog for 4 hours a day and you'll have an easier time training them.... duh. biggrin.gif

I'm going to write a book someday about the parallels of training.... err... "raising" kids and training dogs. The more I look at it, there are a lot of similarities.

luvmykids replied:
Uhhh.......yeah, I actually logged it for a few days and realized there must be more to it than that rolling_smile.gif
