Was that my water?!

they should make it purple or something..... i was sitting on the couch in my preggo dress (too much of a hassle at this point to get fully dressed, so I go nekkid - with panties and a panty liner - under a floppy dress), and felt very wet.... so I went to the bathroom to wipe (sorry, gross) and it was really wet.... when I bent down slightly to get some tp, it dripped down my leg and more directly onto the floor... so I sat down on the toilet, waited like 5 seconds, and then I peed.
So was it my water? Or did I just need to pee more than I thought? That was about 25 minutes ago, just a little wet since.... lol Except for when I sneeze...i have a cold, so I sneeze a lot... some more comes out... but when I go on the can, nothing!

Could this be it?
MomToMany replied: OHHH....it might be!! Call your Dr. and see what s/he says!! I'd say YES it IS! Sounds like what happened to me with Hannah!
Kaitlin'smom replied: yes it could be it, do you feel like your leaking? I know its kinda hard to describe but I felt like I was leaking and just thought I had to pee alot then I got up and I had a little gush, not a big as I thought it would be but I knew then it was not pee, but my water had broke.
You might want to go in and be checked just incase, you dont want an infection....
I hope your on your way! If you can let us know!
5littleladies replied: Hmm.....sounds like it could be. That's how it was with my first baby-I had no idea if it was my water or if I just hadn't made it to the bathroom in time. And if it was your water-like a small break, that's what I had-then baby could be plugging it up and keeping it from coming out much more. Maybe you should go get checked just in case? Or at least call your doc. I hope it is your water!!
jem0622 replied: I forgot what your EDD is. I would call the OB/midwife and tell them. Never know!
Julie
DansMom replied: I agree---my water did not gush, but did trickle and leak when I moved around or coughed or sneezed, because Daniel's head was well-lodged in my pelvis. This could be it! Please call your OB person---we want to know!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I looked it up on the calendar and it Dec 23rd so she could deliver now!
that would be so exciting!
kimberley replied: i agree... they should make it purple!! sounds like it could be a slow leak if the baby's head is blocking the flow or it is just the joys of late pg i had to cross my legs every time i coughed or sneezed in my last month or so or i would wet my pants
let us know what the doctor said asap!!
jen replied: OMG! How exciting!! I can't tell you ANYTHING I have no idea, sorry!! But I am so EXCITED FOR you! Let us know!!!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
jem0622 replied: You know what...I just remembered something from a previous pregnancy. Something having to do with a paper bag. If you are leaking amniotic fluid then it will discolor the paper in some way as opposed to if it was plain urine. Strange, huh? Wish I remember what color it would be. I'll do some looking.
Julie
Kaitlin'smom replied: I hated that part.............
MomToJade&Jordan replied: It sounds like it to me. I knew my water had broke because it happened right after I went to the bathroom. I hope you are at the doc right now and maybe possibly delivering a baby. I'm so excited.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I jsut got a chance now to come back and check the post.... I guess I should call to make sure... but I've already had that test twice since Monday... I've been moving around in all kinds of wierd ways to see if I could get more to trickle out... no deal.
I haven't had any contractions though...if it IS my water, how long until the contractions should start?! DH works about 5-7 minutes away, and his boss is aware that he may have to leave at a momen'ts notice any day now, so no biggie...and my mom lives 5 minutes away too... the hospital is only about 15 minutes away by car...
Paper bag, huh? I'll hava to try it...I have one, thankfully, in my cupboard...got it 2 days ago with the groceries, thought I'd keep it, just because.
Kaitlin'smom replied: my contractions did not start for a couple hours, i was more worried about the leaking.....
Guest_Schnoogly replied: Definitely could be! My water tricked once, then nothing for about an hour and a half, then another trickle, then ctx about 3 hours after it originally broke. There was hardly any leakage and I was a kegel maniac so hadn't had any accidents my whole PG. I was SURE it was not urine.
Woo hoo!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well here we are almost 6 hours after it *leaked* the first time....and no contractions yet. At lesat not any painful ones... I've been hving Braxtons all day...painless.
DH is going to work in about 15 minutes...and he'll only be back around 11:30 or 11:45 tonight.... so in the meantime, I'm anxious... lol
But, the net-research freak that I am, I went online and checked out about fluid and stuff....and I read mostly that you can go into labor from 1 minute to 24 hours after your water breaks...so if that's the case, I'm giving it until DH gets home to see if anything starts. If nothing starts, then it's probably nothing to be worried about...
And I lied down for about 25 minutes, got up pretty quickly, and no leaking...so it was probably urine or discharge. It's pretty gross if you think about it...but...that's the cycle of life.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: That's what happened when I went into labour with my first DD and the again with Claudia there was this little gush and that was it! But labour started right away after that! Good Luck and keep us posted!
A&A'smommy replied: you are so close to having a baby!!!! Im so excited for you maybe it was your water but if you not leaking now it probably wasnt...i had the same thing happen to me i thought i had broke my water and it turned out it was probably just pee (eww) but maybe it really was your water!!!
maestra replied: That's exactly what happened to me- and so I didn't get it checked. Turned out it was my water, and I had to have antibiotics because my labor didn't start for over 24 hours since then. Get it checked as soon as you can!
MommyToAshley replied: I agree, you may not have contractions right away. They may have to give you something to get your contractions going. But, I know it is important to deliver within 24 hours after your water breaks.
I am a little late reading/posting.... you might be having your baby right now. Ohhhh, I hope so. But, if you aren't, I hope you come on here and let us know.
Sending some ~~~~~EASY LABOR VIBES~~~~~~ just in case.
Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Didn't know that... Well, 24 hours will be around 10:30 tomorrow morning... so I think I may avoid taking a bath, jsut in case. I was about to... but DH only gets home around 11:30 tonight, so we'll go first thing in the morning.
But... if there isn't a *current* leak, how will they know whether it is fluid or not, if there is none there to test?
What caused yo uto have to take antibiotics? Was Jaci ok? were there any complications?
Jamison'smama replied: They can do an examination to see if your water broke--you don't have to be leaking at the time you go in--I had to do that.
Good luck
maestra replied: I think that I felt the initial leak Friday night- but I don't remember for sure. I went into labor at like 12:15 Sun Morn, but didn't go until my scheduled induction at 8pm- which is when I found out that my water had already broken, so they gave me antibiotics to ward off infection. I had to get pitocin to make the contractions progress. Jaci was born healthy at 9:06 on Monday morning.
I never thought it was a leak- everytime I got up off the floor from working with my students, I would feel Jaci's weight drop and would loose my bladder a little, so I didn't think anything of it.
I wish they would make it purple too! But if you go to l&D they will do a swab and see if the fluid (even a little bit) ferns. If it does, it's amniotic fluid, and you stay!
Good luck!
CantWait replied: I remember doing that all the time. I'd sit down and go to the bathroom and just when I thought I was done, I'd have to go again. I hope though that it is your water that broke. ~~~~~~Easy labor vibes~~~~~~~ I haven't seen you post in awhile so maybe this is the real thing
Schnoogly replied: Yeah if you're still around post so we know you're not at the hospital!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I'm still kicking around.... DH went to work this morning, he's supposed to get off at around 11. I called the hospital, and they didn't seem too concerned...they're like *when you can, come in for a quick test* and that was it. They asked me if I was having any contractions, which I'm not, but I generally feel grody today. I felt nautious this morning.
So I guess I'll update later...
CantWait replied: darn, that sucks
CantWait replied: hey wait though, you haven't been here since early morning, hmmmmmmm
A&A'smommy replied: maybe she is having that baby!!! wouldnt that be great!?!
