Watch your kids....

mummy2girls wrote: if they use the internet... im not sure if any of you have parental controls on your comp...a little girl in my city was abused by a man she met online. She is 13 he is 37. So please be very careful....

jen replied: That is scary!

aspenblue1 replied: That is very scary.

coasterqueen replied: This is one of my worst fears as a parent because I've heard this happening so many times. Not sure how I will handle internet use with Kylie as she gets older, but I will definately keep things like this in mind when parenting her in regards to this.

chloe&tysmommy replied: That is so scary! There are a lot of sickos out there....glad they caught him though!

alicia replied: its the girls fault because she should have a head on her shoulders and not talk to any pedaphiles on-line!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: so many sickos out there.....this is also a worry for me, but one thing I know is Kaitlin will not have a computer in her room, she will have her with ours in what ever room they are all in, this will hopefully help prevent somethings....also I hope to be able to have a very open relationship where we can talk about anything with out judement.....

A&A'smommy replied: That stuff has been going on for so long and it probably will forever us parents cannot forget that! (((hugs))) for the little girl who probably didn't know what she was getting herself into!

DixieDarlin replied: How horrible! My oldest is 8 and he usually just plays games offline. But on the rare occasions that he IS online, he is closely supervised. All he really does is check his email. My mom and DH's brother sends him little ecards and stuff like that.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: When Emily and Spencer get old enough to use the computer for more than playing their games, I will put one of those net nannies onto the computer. I think what people do out there is just terrible and this is one of my biggest fears. I feel so sorry for that little girl, that is just awful! sad.gif

TLCDad replied:
She might not even known his real age. Be careful, these sickos have a way of making you think what they are doing is right... brain washing if you will. There are all kinds of reports and even movies that show this.

momof2girls replied: My eight year old will get on occasionally to write her grandman, but I have the parental controls set so she can only get email from emails I add, and Im always near by
but no chat rooms for her!! or im's....

these creeps try to get to kids anyway they can...

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I just watched a program about this last night. Like TLCDAD said above many of these sickos lure these teens to them by telling them what they want to hear or even posing as a young person themselves. The term used for this is grooming. In most cases the teen thinks they are going to meet with this person and hang out. This is just a very bad situation and it really makes me ill. I guess it is up to us to inform our children about the dangers of the internet. I know that when Jade is old enough to get on here I am going to try and make sure that she knows the warning signs.
