We are back from the doctor - all good news
amymom wrote: Bottom line is Mary Beth's murmur is an innocent murmur and will probably be gone by the time she is an adult. She does not need antibiotics when she has dental work and no limitations on her activity. She does not need to see the cardiologist again.
Here is how the visit went:
First we went in (about 45 mins late) and had the EKG done. That scared Mary Beth, and she is so brave, but the tears were right there and she got very worried. But of course she had to act brave and Mom couldn't hug her or nothing. Then when we got in to see the doc. He took the history and was very kind and sweet with Mary Beth, and then he listened to her heart, and listened again, then had her stand and listened, then lay down and listened, then cough and listened. Boy that got me wondering. So he says .... First I want you to know that I am 99% positive that it is just a functional, innocent murmur. HOWEVER, it is the loudest murmur I have every heard. And it is louder when she is laying down, and it can hardly be heard when she is standing. So just to clear up that last 1% I want to do an Echo. And he tells MB she is going to have a movie done of her heart. So we go off to do that with a tech, and he comes in when it is all done and looks it all over than takes one more picture (sonogram) . Then he prints a picture for her of her four chambers. So she came home with a picture of her perfectly healthy heart. (Although to be honest, it looks alot like the sonogram I had done with I was 8weeks pg with her. ahh the untrained eye!) He told her she should be a doctor when she grows up, since she is so smart and not an FBI agent!
so all in all everything went well. I came home to a tree has fallen on our house, so I am off to figure out what is going on, Noone got hurt, damage is minimal but the fire dept was here and MIL is worried. I will update about this later.
