We had a great day! ? for the teachers/child dev - experts on the board too

kit_kats_mom wrote: Katherine and I had a great day today! We picked out bedding for her new bed and for Lauren's crib. Katherine now has a white toddler bed, with yellow sheets and purple blankets & pillows. LOL Not my first choice but whatever!

I love having her home with me when she's in the kind of mood she was in today. Almost makes me want to be a full time sahm...but then the whining starts and I quickly rethink that. rolleyes.gif

Anyway, I let her sleep in since the itching kept her up last night. She woke up in a great mood and we cuddled on the couch and watched peep. Then we got ready and went to Super Target for bedding. She was really good in the store.

Then we drove across town to the dermatologist and she was great in the car even though she kept saying "no doctor". Poor thing, hates em.

We got there and she was awesome in the waiting room and in the exam room. She was chatting everyone up and just being a charmer. She didn't even freak out too much when the Doc looked at her. She was hugging me like I was going away forever but she wasn't screaming. YAY! So we stopped and got her some fries and chicken nuggets for the ride home. We got home, read a story and napped.

We went back to Target to get her perscription filled and while we were waiting, she was singing twinkle twinkle and old macdonald to a 5 mo old baby who was waiting with his mom. Another lady who was waiting asked how old she was and I said 26 mos. her and another lady both were like, "That's amazing!" I said what is amazing? They both said that most kids that age cant just sing on their own like that. Is that right? I thought everyone on this boards kids were singing songs...wierd. Maybe they were just nuts. K's got quite the repetore going for songs. LOL

Anyway, we had a nice dinner when Daddy came home and now those two are cuddled onthe couch watching nemo and eating popcorn.

I love days like this.

I love days like that, unfortuately, they are few and far between here.

About the songs....Jason isn't really into singing, but he does love to count and say letters. I'd say Katherine is amazing!! rolleyes.gif

jcc64 replied: I actually had one of those loving mommy days too, Cary. Cooked not 1 but 2 healthy meals (one for a night when we have afterschool activities), helped Noah with homework, Corey was happy and co-operative all afternoon, had a meaningful talk with my 12 yr old (probably the biggest achievement of the night), and generally felt like everyone's needs were getting met adequately. A rarity, but it's nice to feel like you're doing a good job once and awhile.
And yes, Corey does know quite a few songs, which I also find to be pretty remarkable b/c I know for sure the boys couldn't do that.

Happy to hear you're having a better day emotionally than yesterday! smile.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
Thanks Jeannie,
yep I'm feeling better. Maybe I just needed some extra cuddle time from K too.

amynicole21 replied: Wow... love days like that! K is such a sweetie wub.gif

Sophia sings songs, too... maybe it's a girl thing wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: WTG K! I absolutely LOVE when Kylie has days like this. It seems she's having more of these than she used to which is so great!

MomToMany replied: wub.gif What a wonderful day! Sounds like she was a little princess. I know Hannah can sing a few songs too, but not sure if it was that early.

MommyToAshley replied: I agree with the ladies, K IS amazing! She's so smart, funny, and just too darn cute with those pigtails!

I think AmyNicole is right, it's a girl thing. Ashley LOVES to sing. She has quite a few songs she sings, but we've always played music and sang around the house.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I love days like that, K is amazing. Kaitlin does not sing much but she has on occasion........thanks for the reminder I wanted to get her some new CD'd with more kids songs.

DansMom replied: What an awesome day!! I think Katherine will be a great big sister. Her singing to that little baby is a great sign that she's ready to play little mommy. Does she role play being the mommy with dolls and the like? That would be another good sign.

With early verbal skills being a girl thing to begin with, I'd say singing clearly and memorizing songs early might be girl thing (generally) as well. Daniel has been musical from day one, but in the sense of melody and rhythm, not lyrics. He can hum or quack the tune to Blue Danube, for example, which is a classical piece. He sings his abc's in perfect tune, but we have to try not to laugh when he says "Q" and "W". He definitely can't sing all the words to any song but ABC. However, he actually tries to play real songs (like Fur Elise!) on the piano and doesn't just bash the keys. In other words, all of our kids are advanced in some way!! ---don't you all agree? laugh.gif

Boys r us replied: It's not JUST a girly thing..haa! Brae LOVEs to sing and he'll breakout into tune at any given time..he loves to sing happy birthday and does so randomly all of the time, some of his other favorites are the bob the builder song, twinkle twinkle, the wheels on the bus.

Sounds like you two had quite a spectacular day!!! I hope the prescrip helps her itching!!

mummy2girls replied: awesome day! and k is amazing! I agree it must be a girl thing also because jenna sings twinkle twinkle, abc's, baa baa blacvk sheep, etc etc. She loves music and can pick up a song in a matter of a couple days...LOL.

3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron is really into singing right now... so guess it isn't just a girl thing! He is constantly singing to himslef and to Kathleen, mostly twinkle twinkle little star, old mcdonald, farmer in the dell, adn rock a bye baby, but can sing most thjings once he's heard them once or twice!

Glad you had such a great day! When Cameron has good days liek that it make me soooo happy... otherwise it makes me want to scream!
